hey guys, I been considering buying one of the nanocom units as they seem to be a very good investment, but I was wondering, do they also work on V8 Discos? All the talk in Forums seems to be around TD5's?

the one I have has TD5 Vehicle Diagnostics on the side of the box, so perhaps not v8 optimised

No I don't think it is. It is a Td5 specific tool. I theory the abs, slabs and other components should be the same, but I think others have tried it and it wont work.

Heres my question sent to info@nanocom.it (info@nanocom.it) and their response from earlier this month on same subject.

Re: Nanocom for Discovery II V8

Q/
"Hi,

Can the Nanocom unit also read and clear the fault codes on a 1999 Discovery II with a V8 engine (specifically those related to the SLABS ECU).

As well as the SLABS ECU, what else does the nanocom unit read?

Many thanks"

Hi,
It can work on BCU, ABS, SLS and ACE. The petrol engone developement is in my plan.

Regards
Mattia "

So there, Mattia's answer says what it can do but doesnt specifically say it does it on the V8 so I'm not really clear on the answer:eek:, I havnt followed up since.

The car "body" systems are identical as been previously discussed. Mattia has even confirmed it.

I can see NO reason why it wont work on a V8 engine based car...........

Supasquad...

Put simply they just don't have the soul your Land Rover does....

After driving your new V8 for a month and taking it off road ..... try driving any Jap 4wd and tell me you honestly prefer the Jap truck...

I bet you don't

BTW where are you?... there may be someone from here local with a Nanocom that will give it a try for you. I would if you were near me..

Hey Mark

I am in Pasadena SA - and I am starting to fall in love with my disco, even with my constant salsa companions!
