It's been raining constantly for a week now and about midday today I came across this truck bogged at some cattle yards. They'd been trying to pull it out with a drag chain and Triton ute for about an hour to no avail; so I unloaded my recovery gear and got to work ;)

I used a drag chain to secure my rear recovery point to a tree; then using an equaliser strap off my front points I set up a 2:1 snatch block winch recovery.

The old TJM Ox9500 got a fair old workout and I'm glad I have both my batteries linked with 400amp cables & solenoids as it took a fair bit of grunt to pull out.

Well done! The mighty 300tdi to the rescue, I see.

Attaching yourelf to the tree, weren't you worried about twisting your chassis? That truck looks pretty heavy.
I wonder if I wouldn't have preferred to let the Disco slide a bit while winching rather than risk being damaged by being squeezed between the weight of the truck and the tree.

I was using a recovery hitch in the hayman reece bar at the back, and used an equaliser strap at the front; I don't see how there would be any twisting?

There was no way I would've got it out if I wasn't attached to that tree!

Nice work mate....judging by the size of that truck, probably would have been a better idea to use a double snack block pull...would have doubled your torque again. Would ahve taken ages, but less stress on the winch...

Nice job.
I would have gone that sort of method also.

Last truck I pulled was on the freeway so I used a single line and reversed while realing the winch in. No hope of doing much else while the freeway was still open.

While there is no doubt that my disco rules supreme in my long list of cars. I did own a Triton that my best mate borrowed from me one weekend came back wet and dirty.
It wasnt until 4 years later when we had a Rover Crew reunion that I saw a picture of a 60 series pulling a bogged truck? Scan a little further across the picture and there was MY flamin Triton pulling the lot!!!!! :TakeABow:
Funny thing was I got married 6 months later and on our 4x4 (trip) honey moon the Triton blew its big end all over a highway and ending the honeymoon early but I am assured it wasnt the pulling of 10 tons that caused any damage.:bangin:
I should get that photo seeing your pics just brought back :(memories.
Good to see you using it not abusing it.
