hey how much difference is there between the front fenders/guards on the series land rovers

Series I's are completely different.

Series II, IIA and III only differ in the headlight light configuration, and possibly thickness

As Jock says. Series 2,2a,3 are basically the same, and are interchangeable, except that 1969 and on 2a and 3 have the headlights in them, and most Series 3 have holes for the heater intake on the LH guard. The Series 3 guards I think have the bracket different for the inner guard to make room for dual circuit master cylinders, but this will not stop you interchanging them.

Series 1 80" has at least two varieties of mudguard, these are different from 86/107" which in turn is different from 88/109", and none are interchangeable with each other or Series 2/2a/3.
