When they swaped to the new V8 diesel the troopie was axed and replaced with those nancy wagons.
Did toyota change their minds? Recentley Ive seen a couple of troopies with the new V8 front, plus seen a couple of ex hire pop up campers advertised for sale.
Did they re-release the troopie due to buyer backlash???

I don't believe the troopy was ever axed. Was available from day one with the V8 along with the other models. Maybe you just never saw any???

The 79 wagon replaced the bottom spec 100 series. The troopy V8 is still sold, they were just changing to them in the mine I was working in in NSW.They are a big jump in performance compared to the 1HZ we had, that isn't saying much thou. Pat

No, they never stopped the troopie. The NT is still crawling with them - new and old ones.

The wagon is a shorter wheelbase, 4 door variant, but the body is actually based on the same vehicle Toyota has sold as the Land Cruiser Prado in SE Asia for the last decade or so.

When did they drop the V8 into the 70 series, cos I saw a V8 troopie at a dealer back in October.

Not knowing much about them I was blown away with it's rear leaf springs.

Nah toyota had them all along, but there such ugly bitzas that they have tried to keep them hidden. I checked them out when I traded my 98 Troopie for a 2008 defender, a 20,000 premium for some genetic engineering gone wrong, the defender got the nod:)

Surprises me that the King of Off Road was dim enough to have the front axle 100mm wider than the rear.

Have a laugh

We have all driven on hard packed dirt roads with wheel tracks embedded in them these things would be hell.
