well it's not the first time someone has asked these questions... but if someone could lend some up to date advice I'd appreciate it.

i just moved over from scotland, where i've had two (older) lpg vehicles. arrived in queensland and realised that a 4x4 was the way forward (for heading up the beach surfing) and also shocked by how cheap LRs were here!

now i need two bits of advice from the experts, being new to the disco and new to LPG on this side of the planet. We have a 1994 model with Low Ks.

any advice on avoiding pitfalls on the disco lpg conversion / what systems would people recommend? i'm gathering that a vapour system and shifting the petrol tank is the way forward? any brands that are especially good?
anyone recommend a good installer in the brisbane area? i know from experience that a bad gas installer can mean about a year's worth of heartache and hassle...
thanks for taking the time... euan

welcome

can't really offer too much advice on LPG for Disco1. I know that the older systems used to blow up airboxes due to backfiring. Not sure if that is still the case.
The tank configuration would be the same for D1 as D2.
Option 1- keep the standard petrol tank and have LPG scuba tanks (2 small thin) mounted in the cargo area. Then a false floor over the top.
option 2- remove the std petrol tank and install 2 LPG tanks and a 45 - 50 lt petrol tank in the DSide rear 1/4.

good luck:D

The backfiring issue is the really only problem people have had but I think it has more to do with having the wrong mixture and poor electrics or both that causes it.My disco never backfired but I kepted the ignition in good condition and had two scuba tanks on the chassis rails, one either side.I have had three petrol and one diesel gas vehicle and I don't think one brand is better than another, the difference is the installers, some need a flogging.
