was that when they played with wooden rackets derek :D

I would say most definitely a form of yellow.....If it was green you wouldn't see it unless playing on an indoor or clay court.........

how goods that for an answer I don't even play tennis:lol2:

Hey my first few racquets were made of wood!

As for the colour question... answer is here - kind of - ITF Tennis - Technical - Colour (http://www.itftennis.com/technical/research/lab/balls/colour.asp)

Derek that certainly explains it well

Although the Rules of Tennis only specify that a tennis ball must be white or yellow, the ITF Technical Centre monitors the colour of tennis balls using a spectrophotometer linked to a computer.

This records the colour of each ball on the L*a*b* scale. The scale specifies colour three-dimensionally (an L* axis, an a* axis and a b* axis). These represent lightness, redness-greenness and yellowness-blueness respectively.

I thought they were a sort of dirty white, but then I haven't played tennis for fifty years.
