Where can I obtain a basic service manual for the Disco3? My Land Rover service manager said "Should we have problems while travelling around Australia, we only need to call the Land Rover hotline". I tried to explain NEXT G dose not exist everywhere. Alas, he could not understand. Regards, Wendel

Info is purchased online. There is no book.
The hot line ? Who's answering and when on this ?
If you breakdown outside state capitals , you're stuffed
even for recovery , as has been experienced by the unfortunate.

I doubt you can fix anything on a D3 without a LR computer
system and Dealer workshop. Nearly all the faults are non user
fixable

Land Rover Assist comes with the new car warranty and is Australia wide, presuming you can call the 1800 number....

From what I gather call them describe the problem, they either solve it, or send someone to get you.

G'day Wendle,

Re documentation, other than wheel alignments and flat battery's I would be very reluctant to let non LR aware mechanics near my D3. I got my LR dealer to photocopy alignment doco for me to take with me, and I also took a trickle charger with me for the battery, from Darwin on.

We had to use LR assist in Katherin NT, ended up on traytop trip to Darwin and LR paying for several days accomidation.

Re Next G found it in most places even Barkley Homestead NT, kept in contact with billylids via Skype round Oz for seven months.

If you breakdown they'll send you a tilt-bed if it's major. Doesn't really matter where it happens if it's a gazetted road. If it's not, you can go a long long way in limp home mode.

And, you'd be surprised how much you can fix/jury rig on a D3 on the side of the road. Never leave home without the duct tape;)
