New Sterio for the Disco info

OK we are going to replace the 6 stacker that comes standard in the D2, we want something that is Mp3, Ipod and USB capable.

Now we don't want any doof doof stuff, so no giant amps/woofers and fancy stuff, just some good quality speakers that will fit in the OE spots and a decent CD player, basicly something a bit better than the OE gear.

So any good gear out there, that won't break the bank:confused:

I just did same.
I bought a Pioneer with USB, Ipod and Bluetooth for the phone.

Absolutely brilliant, oh and CD of course.

I replaced the speakers with Focals, front and back and pair of tweeters in the front where the pillar is.
Sounds brilliant, may just need a little subwoofer as the little 4inch speakers just don't cut it.
Cost $1000 and I am tickled pink.

I have a pioneer head unit that has full ipod control on the unit itself. You just put the ipod in the glove box and forget about it. It can also take CD/Mp3 etc, and is well worth the $180. I'm very happy with it, the lights are even green, which matches the rest of the interior at night.

Replaced my radio last year. It was a cheapy from Aldi.
I did not have an ipod (still don't), so went with a radio with a SD card reader. On a 4gb card can get 1200 mp3's.
The unit will also take CD's and ipod/MP3 player via USB.
Also we don't need to hear music blocks away.

I've got a Pioneer iPod model in my D3 which I'm really happy with. The only negative of it is the Aux input and USB\iPod inputs are on the front so you have an ugly usb cable sticking out of the dash.

Look for one with rear USB and Aux connections.

One thing to check for if you have an iPhone is can the headeck accept an audio signal from the iPhone instead of reading the music files off the iPhone.

This is important if you want to use apps on your iPhone like TomTom because if the headdeck only reads the files off the iphone then you won't be able to hear your navigation instructions.

When I bought the Pioneer some Alpine and Clarion headdecks didn't do this hence why I got the Pioneer.

Most headdecks now seem to do both methods.

Also I'd really recommend a decent subwoofer. It doesn't matter what type of music you listien to there is a lot of bass frequencies that you can't get without a sub. The sub also covers up a lot of road noise.

I've mounted my 12" in the back with a strap and an Anderson plug so if I need to remove it to get more space it takes seconds to disconnect.
