New season just starting now (at least in the Eastern states)...

I wish TGA were as funny as these blokes! :p

I love this show:D

Accidently watched it as I was hoping that "The Gruen Effect" might be on after "Spicks 'n Specks".

Think they're losing it a bit. Wasn't too much on there tonight that I thought was very funny, except for:

the Shore Boathouse Appeal in Somalia, and
Jesus was off prospecting for metal at the very end (the shark attack was un-funny).

I enjoy their studio commentary and puns, but when they cut to "real situations" where they put themselves in legal and physical danger I start to cringe.

The bit about flying a small dirrigble in St Peter's Square was just inappropriate and a somewhat dangerous (protected airspace) prank - didn't these blokes learn from APEC in 2007?

The stuff in the USA testing legal cases was awkward and made me feel queasy for the "victims" of their pranks.

Sorry, give me Good News Week (and Claire Hooper :p) over this ****.

Paul - you have to be kidding. The whole show was hilarious - and in the same vein as what they have been doing from the start - including getting themselves arrested (they were arrested at the vatican).

Clare Hooper is the least funny thing/shebeast on telvision. She should be given the boot asap. I am sure she is only on GNW because she is Paul's bit on the side.

I love the show - but thought it was a slightly slow start to a new series.

But the Billy Connelly in Iraq - now that was bloody funny - dare I say, "Brilliant"! :D

I normally love the chaser but my partner and I thought last nights was a big old bore. Oh well I'm sure they will get better.

I guess I'm just getting old then. I've found myself watching that "Grumpy Old Men" show and nodding in agreement with them :o

Don't I wish (oops, wrong Paul)... she does have a couple of good points ;)

Hopefully Chaser's will improve or I'll regain my sense of humour. Maybe they could add Clare Hooper to the cast... I'd watch it for sure then.

Indeed - they captured billy so perfectly!!!

Paul - She/it is all yours - wouldn't touch her with a 10 foot pole...

Well - After tuning in again last night, it is pretty obvious the boys are being toned down - not sure if that is good or bad, but the only real laugh I got was the "guide porpoise" from Quantum, oh, and the "In the Navy" skit wasn't bad. :D

Personally, and please note this is only my personal opinion and does not represent the opinion of this forum nor those who run it ( Glad I got that legal stuff out of the way).

I think that they are all a bunch of 'Owner Operators' you know ' Digital Manipulators' .

I hear one copped a smack in the mouth the other day, damn unfortunate that he wasn't shot. :(

Any idiot that approaches a private person who happens to have the surname of Moran and carries on about taking over from where the 'other' Morans left off deserves to have his front teeth re-aligned.

Nope - I don't know what this means! :(

But humor is obviously a personal thing - I detest most commercial "comedy" that we see on TV - I would say I have never seen any show on channel 7, 9 or 10 which I would say was funny (excluding the Muppet show!). To me, the majority of such programming is aimed at, and forgive me for saying it, the less imaginative mind and the lowest common denominator. To me, for example - stuff like "Hey hey its Saturday" and "One and a half men" etc - please - this is garbage humor, tripe to my mind. But stuff like "Southpark", Pizza" etc - I love it - maybe I'm the one with the problem!

Whatever the chaser might be guilty of - it has a certain quality that I enjoy. Their material is firmly rooted in the undergraduate style of humor - I like it. You don't. Personally, I have never been in the slightest way offended by any of it. That's all good :) - the world would be boring if we were all the same.

The rest of that story went on to say that once the "victim" of the skit was told they were from The Chaser, and not a news crew, he apologised and they had a laugh. There were no charges laid, and of course the story was leaked by the ABC to get a bit of free mainstream media attention prior to last night's show.

Don't be sucked in by a typical media beat-up and only read the headlines.

Yes, I agree they are being toned down, but it's still one of the funniest things on Oz TV. Outsourcing the last 5 minutes of the show to India was gold. What would make it even funnier is if they proceeded to do the entire next week's show from India as well.

On the topic of The Chaser being toned down... In my opinion, if they had just removed the last line "they're only going to die anyway" from their "Make a realistic wish" skit, then it probably would have been far less offensive and slipped under the radar. Then it would have been interesting to see how much further they might have taken their Michael Jackson material. Perhaps a rework the "Everyone's a top bloke after death" song that caused such uproar during their last season.

Paul, they'd have us believe that they are at the "cutting edge" of humour and that there activities are a legitmaie test of the "boundaries"....

I might be getting on but common sense is something that used to be encouraged and these guys (and/or there writers) seem to be seriously lacking when it comes to that.... I won't go on (and on)

They have the formula .... but can't deliver // the show is lacking in real content

A skit that was real funny ... was the one where they approached a Polly, .... wearing jeans with red bullseye rings painted on their knees, and a baseball bat in hand, offering them the opportunity to take a free swing ....

It was in response to a comment about them (the chaser) from ... Kim Beazley??

I can imagine you as the grumpy guy they portray in front of the typewriter spitting out letters to the ABC ;):D

I don't think they have tickets on themselves, basically university sketch material polished up a bit for the telly. Take it or leave it.

Have to agree. Some of the shows that you have mentioned on the commercial channels are just filling in time and I can't imagine them appealing to anyone's sense of humour (especially the American rubbish). Although I don't mind Good News Week - not overly fussed about Clare Hooper - would rather Corinne Grant any day.

Can't agree with you on Southpark and Pizza though - have never been able to sit through an episode of either. I find them both boring and not funny at all. But I'll never knowingly miss an episode of Shameless - just goes to show I've got a twisted sense of humour. :p

After the chasers skit on make a wish they can NAFF off.... lots of other phrases I could use but they'd make a sailor blush.

Comedy is a tad thin on telly these days......
