This "feature" annoys the whatits out of me:mad:
I like to view all my folders in Windows Explorer using the Details view but Explorer keeps changing the view based on the folder content.
I've done the usual settings in Folder Options but Vista overrides these. I see there's some reg hacks out there to stop it but I really want to avoid reg hacks if I can.
Suggestions, sage advise, enlightenment welcome.

Open up an explorer window, and get the view to the way you like it (i.e. Details).
Then Organise > Folder and search options
Click on the "View" tab
Click "Apply to All Folders"

Doesn't work. Vista will override that when it feels in the mood.

OK. Worked for me, because, like you, it was driving me mad seeing everything in icon view. Sorry it's no good on your PC. I am running SP2. Maybe it's something to do with that?
