Can anybody supply good detail pics of the winch mount to fit a thomas pto winch to a perentie chassis, so I can fabricate one, or aternately, does anybody in western sydney have one that I can measure up or even purchase?

If you are looking for centre plate details for an army 110 style bull bar, I might be able to post a few photos on the weekend. Be aware that it is designed to mount onto an army 110 style bar, which only fits onto Aus army specific dumb irons.

If you are sourcing an army 110 bar and are planning to fit it to your civvy 110 / defender, you will also need to make up some adapter plates. There is a post on here somewhere about the adapter plates themselves - doing a search should turn something up.

Good luck

Thanks, Offender90, if you could get shots dead square on from the front, top, and as best you can from the side, and also measure the thickness of the main plate, that would be a great help!

Fortunately my chassis already has dumb irons identical to a Perentie and has a Perentie bull bar fitted. Unfortunately I only have the thin steel plate that holds the number plate on a non winch fitted vehicle.:)

I have some photos I think, i'll have a look in the REMLR Archive.

Is yours a Perentie, by the way?

Shouldn't be a problem - if someone doesn't beat me to it, that is. It's quite thick (5-6mm from memory), and has tubed and ribbed bracing to the integrated winch rollers.

Cheers Pheonix,
Actually she's a bit of a bitza, As far as I can tell, the chassis is a really good copy of a Perentie chassis, the dumb irons are the same, the rear has been modified to mount an underslung spare wheel, but there are a number of detail differences in the chassis in between.

She was built as an Individually Constructed Vehicle and had a chassis number issued by the RTA when the vehicle was engineered.

The rest of the vehicle is made up of bits and pieces from various vehicles, sourced from wreckers and the trading post!

She did have a full length soft top until this year, but is currently fitted with a hard truck-cab.

Once I get the winch fitted I will probably give the old girl a bit of a paint freshen-up, 10 years of sitting in the Aussie sun has taken it's toll.

I would be contacting Mr Thomas at winch industries he was very helpfull as his father was the thamas from thomas winches. They still make the winches, can supply parts and also supply the Army. The only thing they don't have is Land Rover pto drives.
He made me the rollers whole I watched and supplied all the parts off the shelf for mine.
He also pointed out to me that the roller fairlead must match the position of the drum. So I looked at my mates rollar setup sulllied with his Warn winch and the rollars are 30mm overall to narrower than the drum and I also noticed that all of them are the same. So thats why warn winched make straining noises when the wire get to either end of the drum.

Here is a shot of the front dumb irons that the mount will attach to.
As far as I can tell it is identical to a perentie chassis. I have a R/Rover mount but is not really useable without modifying the chassis.15897

Yeah we had to mod the chassis to fit ours;), also planning on getting it to sit as far in to the grill as possible to keep it looking neat, will mod/shorten the shafts if need be;)

I think I have a spare new one of these hidden away in my shed but would be reluctant to sell just in case I ever bend the one I have. If nobody else can help you I will dig it out over the weekend and supply some measurements. Be aware that the are differences from a standard Thomas winch and the one fitted to the perentie - specifically drum width, drum scroll and mounting bolt locations..........Brian

Thanks Bear man,
The main thing that I wish to replicate is the way it mounts to the chassis and the arrangement of the fairlead rollers, I will adjust the rest of the dimensions, mounting holes, etc to suit the winch that I have.
If you could shoot it square from each end, front , back, top and bottom and include an item of a known size, (say a 20cent coin for example) in each shot, I can scale any dimensions I need from that.:BigThumb:
Cheers,
Steve.

G'day, I'm fitting a Thomas electric winch to my perentie. Would also like any pictures, dimensions etc of the mount plate. I do want to fit it all behind the centre existing plate and just cut a hole and mount fair leads into this plate. So really only require the mount plate or ideas to fabricate one. Would be much appreciated
Cheers
