Hi I am not sure where to post this, though this seems to be the place that the P38 owners seem to frequent most.

Since we have done the motor swap I have nearly a full motor including a coil pack, alternator etc sitting in plastic boxes in my study and the cracked block with all the gizzards wrapped up in my carport.

Any advice on what components I should definitively keep?

I am not sure what to do with it all now. ebay seems a hassle and I just want it to go to people who need it at a fair cost, not looking to make a large sum of money from it. Ideally get rid of the whole lot.

In WA if this helps anyone.

Cheers for any advice.

Hi. I'm actually after the heater core that lives under the bonnet. Have a think about how much you want for it and get back to me when you can. Have a couple of mates with P38's looking for certain bits and pieces as well. I'll spread the word for you.
Cheers,
Smeary

If you're planning on keeping the P38 for a while, I would keep whatever you have left if you have room.
Coil packs & alternators are known for failing (not common, just known) so keep those for sure.

Toss the block though, unless someone here wants it for a top hat conversion.

The block and crank (if you have it) may have value (other than scrap) for someone who wants to build up a 4.6. The cost of fitting tophat liners isn't that bad.

If the block is pretty much complete, i.e., crank, pistons, rods. etc., I'd definitely put it on eBay.

As Scouse says, keep the coil pack (I've had on e fail due to incorrectly fitted ignition leads which allowed arcing to burn the coil tower away) - assuming it's the same as yours. The pack isn't cheap. Ditto the alternator.

Which heater core is that? There isn't one under the bonnet.

4.0L swap went well, to be honest can't tell if there is a significantly noticeable difference. Never drove it in sports mode and always seem to drive a bit like a 32 year old Nanna in it!

Had JRT put the Rovacom on it and changed the comp down to the 4.0L specs and that seemed to give it a good tune up.

Had the bellows replaced only to find that the top of the airbag is continually leaking causing it to drop to its bumpstops then struggle to pump up in the morning, with the end result causing an EAS fault. Fixed temporarily by lifting the wheel arch. Once up its fine, presumably there is enough pressure in the bag.

Castration is booked in for next week, just can't put myself through fixing the EAS and have another problem again.

So will have some mint condition airbags and bits and pieces available soon.

The air con was fixed and working, (new compressor) now the clutch won't engage the pump, JRT will have one of their guys look at it after castration, though it looks like it could be something to do with the fuse box.

Ahh the fun of owning a Range Rover.

Lesson Learned. Now I can officially write a witty tag line about Range Rovers on my Posts! :D
