Hi Guys,
I seem to have lost the Compliance/ID plate from my 2000 Defender ute whilst in the process of swappimg the firewall over due to rust. Does anybody know if it is possible to get a replacement/copy?
Thanks Ben.

G'day,

Replacement compliance plates can be obtained by the manufacturer for a fee of course....about $250 from Honda for an old bike in my experience.

Alternatively a 'letter of compliance' can be issued from the manufacturer stating that your vehicle complies with all relevant design rules at the time of manufacture.

At the end of the day if the vehicle remains continuously registered does it matter if you dont have a compliance plate - unless if/when you want to sell it..?

I would try to sort out the non compliance plate ASAP because if you have a serious accident the insurance may not cover you as they can say that its "not conplianced" as it has no plate, they will try anything so they dont have to pay out any $$$$$$$$

Thanks Matt,
My Defender has been unregistered since 2007, I have also just sent a request to LANDROVER Aust via email. I keep you posted with the result.
Cheers Ben.

No there are many ways you can show the identity of the vehicle. Insurers are legally not allowed to deny claims simply for breaches of regulations relating to the condition of the vehicle. BUT it will complicate your life. The more likely problem you will have is if the police inspect your vehicle they could fine you and possibly impound the vehicle.

we need to sort out a similar thing but with our 90....we had a sticker on the firewall put there for the import and compliance of it...

The sticker is one of those stickers that when you start to peel it falls apart....so we can't transfer it to the new firewall we put in :( so have to ask if we are able to get another sticker from the RTA or whoever dishes them out I can't remember now it was so long ago
