Hi again all,

The interior lights in my D2 just won't play ball, they won't do the slow fade off thing or come on when the door is opened, door unlocked etc.

I have the (all) the light switches set in the middle and I have had it going recently.

When we first picked up the car the interior light would not come on automatically. We fiddled with the front light switch back and forward and it started working and was working fine. Don't really know what we did but all worked well, on with door open, on when fob unlocked, faded off after a short time, on when key removed from ignition etc.

Now for some reason no want to workie correctly.

What have I done and how do I get them to work correctly again and not have it stop again when fixed.

By the way all the interior light work fine manually accept the push button one in the second row of seats as the button will not always stay on when pushed.

Any suggestions or knowledge on this.

Thank again all.

Tony

Just thinking out loud.

If you set the alarm with a door not properly shut, the light will not dim. After a specified period however it will shut light off to save battery. However when you unlock and start the car, the light will not work with doors opening, until you have subsequently switched car off and set alarm again, with all doors closed correctly.

Now, if you had a faulty door switch this would simulate a door not being closed properly, and you would constantly end up in the save battery mode, consequently no door light when you open door, and no dim.

You would have to test each switch separately with multimeter and see if they go to ground, when open, and if this circuit is broken when closed.

cheers
Nick

Also if you have had any door open for a long time, the lights won't come on if you close the door, then reopen any door, the ingnition needs to be turned on or the car locked for them to work again.

Also it can take anywhere up to 5 mins for the light to dim and turn off as well, when a door is opened and left open, the rear door in particular.

Another thing with the D2, when you get out of the car and press the locking button, if you hold the button down, the headlights will come on for 45sec then turn off, this is a saftey thing if there are no street lights, nifty eh:D

Interior lamps - Automatic operation
The feed from fuse 20 in the passenger compartment fusebox is connected to
the header C0289 LHD/C0294 RHD. From the header the feed is connected on
a P wire to the ignition switch illumination bulb. The earth connection from the
ignition switch illumination is connected on a PU wire to the BCU pin C0663-9,
via header C0285 LHD/C0294 RHD.
On Korean vehicles only, two feeds on P wires are connected from header
C0723 to the rear interior lamp and the laod space lamp. The front interior
lamp/infra-red sensor is also connected on a P wire from splice joint A2.
With the interior lamps set for automatic operation, switches located in the front
and rear door lock motors, complete an earth path from the BCU. The interior
lamps receive a feed from fuse 20 in the passenger compartment fusebox, via
headers C0289 LHD/C0294 RHD and C0723 on P wires.
The earth path for the LH or RH (driver’s) door switch is from the BCU pin
C0660-17 to the LH or RH front door lock motor on a PW wire, via header
C0287. The earth is connected on a B wire from the LH or RH door switch to
earth header C0017 LHD/C0018 RHD, via header C0288 (LHD only).
The earth paths for the LH or RH (passenger) door switch, tail door switch and
LH and RH rear door switches is from the BCU pin C0660-4 to header C0291
LHD/C0285 RHD on a PLG wire.
From the header C0291 LHD/C0285 RHD a PLG wire is connected to
connector interface C0464-1/C0733-1. From the connector interface the earth
continues on a PW wire to the LH or RH (passenger) door switch. The earth is
connected from the switch on a B wire to earth header C0018 LHD/
C0017 RHD.
From the header C0291 LHD/C0285 RHD a PLG wire is connected to the tail
door switch and the LH and RH rear door switches. The earth from the tail door
switch is connected on a B wire to earth header C0706. The earth from the LH
and RH rear door switches are connected on B wires to earth header C0552.
When a door is opened the BCU provides earth paths from the interior lamps,
the load space lamp and the ignition switch illumination through the BCU. The
earth path(s) from the lamp(s) is on PU wires, through header C0723 and
C0285 LHD/C0294 RHD to the BCU pin C0663-9.

Sounds like a BCU issue. (I have the same problem BTW but haven't put a whole heap of time into looking for the solution

let me know if you find something.........Happy to post more if you want incl circuit diagram

oldie but relevant... I think mine is playing funny buggers and could be why my battery drained the other day. At the moment when driving with the overhead light switch in middle position (where its supposed to only illuminate when door opened or key removed from ignition) but light is on when all doors closed and I'm driving...

Is there anything other than that double dutch which would cause the interior light to remain on when the switch is in the central position?

Yes, the switch is u/s.
