Oil Filter Assembly

Ok, here is an easy one for somebody......I am in the process of putting my vehicle back together and decided to put the oil filter housing back on (yes, with new filter). Of course, when I took it off I didnt really pay much attention to the pieces which fell out as I hadnt really expected a spring and plate to fall out.

I have looked all over for an exploded view, but cant find one. Can someone please confirm the order of assembly (from underneath) is:

Bolt
Housing
Spring
Plate (fitted into filter)
Filter

I am hoping to fire it up again next week--woohoo!

Yes. Don't forget the O-ring in the groove the housing fits into.

dont forget the rubber in/on the "washer" that goes on the bolt prior to sticking it into the housing.

Thanks John and Dave! I didn't actually replace the seal on the bolt or the one on the housing at the moment, but if they leak I will be changing the oil again in 500-600K's and can replace them then.

You can get an adaptor that allows you to use a screw on type oil filter.

They are cheaper to buy, easier to service, more compact to store, and much much less likely to leak.

I got mine from Wise Owl Innovations Incorporated - Land Rover Parts (http://www.wiseowlparts.com/) some years ago.

You can also get them from rockymountainspares.co.uk for GBP40 each ($A80) plus shipping, which can be a bit prohibitive.

You can also get an equivalent from Turner Engineering Land Rover TD5 cylinder head, 300TDI cylinder head, ERR 3339 300TDI fuel injector, 2.5 & 2.5TD cylinder head, crankshafts 300TDI, 200TDI, spin on oil filter assembly and parts for Land Rover from Turner Engineering (http://turner-engineering.co.uk/html/specialoffers.html) for GBP45, but they want GBP40 for shipping, which makes it non-economic.
