Although the dealer assures me it is I want/need to know if the 6 stacker CD player called the ICE pack is MP3 compatible?
I have not read that it is anywhere & just want confirmation.
Thanks
Jonesfam
PS That's the ICE stereo, not the Hi ICE.

I have used one in a D3 that is MP3 compatible. Whether that's the one you're referring to do I don't know. However I usually just use the aux socket with an MP3 player. It's at the back of the centre console.

I don't think you can lay MP3 CDs but check on disco3 as there might be a file structure that works.

Hey Tote, I assume you ordered your 08 D3 new with the 6 stack ICE upgrade?
I have an 05 D3 SE which has a single CD player, and was wondering if anyone has upgraded to a 6 stack player with the steering wheel control?
Thanks

Nev,
Be careful as some of the 6 stacks don't have an on-board amp! They use a fibre optic cable to transfer the signal to an amp under the drivers seat.
We put in the steering wheel radio controls into the 05 S my old man owns, without a problem all working AOK.
But we will be changing the radio shortly(for something with better reception), and bought a fascia panel from the UK, he can then duck into one of the audio shops and get them to fit a new radio, and make sure the steering wheel controls still work.
Cheers,
AP

Yep it was ordered with the upgraded stereo. Amp lives under the drivers seat and sub in the tailgate.

The Sub Woofer lives in the tail gate?
Mine is in the passengers side beside the 3rd row seat.
Sound ordinary in the back row but great up front.

Pump up the volume and sit on the tailgate. I think you will find that is where the sub is. The high level speakers behind the rearmost seats are mid range units.

Hi there, interesting that you are going to replace stereo. I have the single CD player in a Late 2006 SE, and was told that if you take out the stereo then you loose the trip computer functions? Is this correct or am I being told the wrong thing? And yeah where is the aux plug in?

FWIW:
On the 2006 SE, do you have a clock in the drivers display? If so then at a minimum you will loose that.
caverD3 has some info on the Aux Input:
"Yes you can wire into the aux in either behind the head unit or behind the cover in the passenger footwell.

Depends if you have the low line or Hi line. I think yours was the first of the hi-line unfortunately.
You can leave the headunit attached and put it elsware and then put in a new syste. I think you need to replace the amp as the OEM one is optic fibre input.

Thanks for the Links, I think I will stick with the standard stereo for the moment, and just get an AUX plug put in (me not good with that stuff).
Now to just decide on a GPS with video input for a rear view cam.
