My latest buy is a 99 HSE update, with 220K. High ks, but it is by far the best condition p38 i have ever bought. Now should i repair it, i have almost all the parts (i hate selling whole cars though), or wreck it out like the other 5.

Spill the beans on the story!!!! :D

chassis is perfect, damage is very minor, and looks worse in the picture than what it is.

Story.......

The first autobiography i wrecked last year, i sold the rear diff to my mechanic (Sam) who fitted it to a customers car, a red 99 HSE. While he was there, the customer told my sam to check out what parts he would need to repair the minor front damage. Sam located some parts through me, and others interstate. The owner said to go ahead and buy the parts, as he still had over 20K in finance on the car, and needed it repaired ASAP. However the owner then went overseas and left the car with his wife, and sam couldnt get into contact with her.

Now the car shows up at the auctions as a REPO, and i have ended up buying back my rear diff. :D

Yay! You've got a Rangie that is a compatible organ donor to mine!

So, in terms of whether to repair or wreck... in my own selfish opinion it all depends on what bits you want to sell to me... ;)

What colour is the interior? If it's the dark leather, I want it!! My "pov pack" 4.0 cloth seats are yearning to be replaced by leather memory seats.

I'm tempted by the running boards if we can reinforce them in to sliders :D

The Rola/Rhino roof racks look nicer than the boxy Thule ones I've got and they might even let the car fit in my garage, although I'd rather have 3 bars than 2 (darn Willem for buying my other set!!).

Looks like it might have the rear light guards. I'll take them please if they are still intact.

Do you have the rubber/metal brush guard headlamp "hoops"? I'm thinking that I would like to transplant them on to my HRA front bull bar...

Wheels look nice too... care to do a trade-in on my 18" road wheels?

How's the engine compartment fuse box and ABS pump?

Does it have the sat-nav dash or the plain one? Doesn't really matter as I just want one I can transform in to a touch-screen housing. The sat-nav dash would be a simpler starting point though.

Not much of this actually affects the running of the car, just the degree of effort involved in getting bits off and making it roadworthy again.

Once you take the bits out that you are prepared to sell to me, you should definately get it on the road again... you know you want to :D

Ditto!

If you do, Paul, what condition is your driver's seat in? The squab on mine is pretty worn and I might replace it if a good one becomes available. I can't be bothered with the hassle of going to electric seats.

They're good racks, Paul! Thanks! ;):D:D

I'm still after a set of wheels for mine - but I'd like 16 inch.

A good fuse box would be handy.

It'd be a great daily driver, Andrew! You know you'd love too - all you have to do is convince the missus!

I just spent the best part of 20K buying her a 2004 holden caprice. Its one of the only cars that depreiate at a faster rate than a rangie. If a rangie depreciated at the same rate as a caprice, there would be several 2004 vouges available for 36K, and if this was the case, i wouldnt have got her a caprice....

This one was a sydney car for once. Normally its those mexicans pranging their p38s. Its nice not to pay an extra $400 in transport, and wait 2 weeks to arrive with no stacker..............but they were all like that already in melbourne.........

I'll be past later to swap bonnets. :)

Oh and Paul, sorry but the interior is tan. I know you are after grey or black.

I'm hoping oneday i get an ex Gangster car, and find a wad of 50s inside the door cavity. The best i have done do far is about $5 in change, and a pair of nice side cutters.

Wreck it Andy. You know they are worth less than the labour you'd put into it to get it back on the road.

1999 should be Rioja but it looks like Alveston in the picture.

You guys are making my decision hard. I think if the car had no damage, and had 50000kms, your opinions would not be any different.

Oh well, such is life... one day I'll get a nice set of grey or black leather seats for it... no rush really and there are several more pressing issues that I should be attending to on the Rangie anyway.

Have done a bit of research on dyeing leather tan seats to grey or black and it seems that while it can be done, it will be a long time before the new dye stops rubbing off on your clothes... and then it will be time to do it again. Better off to wait until the right coloured seats come along, or consider changing over all the interior panels to tan as well.

Willem - the seat squab is pretty average. Not sagging too much but the stitching is starting to fray in a couple of spots.

Sorry but your all wrong.

I feel that the Range Rover should be saved, fixed up for rego, and then sold to me for cost + mates rates, because I'm a nice guy. Well that and the fact I finally managed to knock the Mrs up so we will need a second car soon.

For some reason the wife is not so keen to put a body and spring lift on the soon to be family wagon :(

I think even if Andy did fix it up & put it back on the road for what it cost him, he'd still lose :(.

Looks like i might be keeping it for a while. I went to alot of effort installing a permenantly mounted EAS Bypass kit today.

Tomorrow, I should have installed my prototype regulated external air outlet, that will allow me to blow out the air filter and inflate the tyres with the EAS compressor and tank.

Are they "worry beads" wrapped around the power steering fluid reserviour?

I might swap over to one of your EAS bypass kits yet... looks a lot cleaner than mine.

Paul, yes they are worry beads, every p38 owner has them, dont they? (actually they were sitting in the glovebox, i could start a thread on stuff we have found in cars)

Scouse, speak to Andrew at hard range, i was looking at building one earlier this year, but i didnt want to step on his toes as he said he had one half built already.
