im comptemplateing selling my toyota ute once the series is on the road and buying a defender ute
my first question is how much room is in the cab as i have to swing the wheel chair past me to get it in?
what work would it take to get 35"s so fit?
im asumeing the rust will be in the same places as a series? (firewall chassie and rear crosmember)
also what are the tdi motors like on wvo and bio as thas what i run the yota on now?
and my last question is what are they like on long distances as shell be set up more for touring?

thanks jono

Think you might have to take the wheels off first.
I've got a dual cab 130 and have stuffed a double pram in the front passenger seat, but I didn't try to do it across my lap.
Where are you? Maybe there's someone local to try it out on.

My brother in law used to swing his wheel chair in after him from the passenger side....but this was in a sedan. The Defender would be challenging given its height.

Maybe a ute with three seats, rather than a cubby box, and come in from passenger side?

if you fitted an aftermarket seat slide to a dual cab 130 you'd be able to do it or if you fitted a quick release on the steering wheel (which is an approvable mod for a disabled persons vehicle)
35's onto a 130 wouldnt take too much more than a 2 inch lift, some cutting and reflaring of the gaurds and redoing the steering stops to prevent rubbing. but you wouldnt get the full benefit available without going a higher lift, once you cross the magic 2 inches lift mark 1. It becomes a requirement to have it re-engineered in WA and most states are or have followed suit. 2. you need to look at castor correction.
The normal seat isnt very hugging, Im perfectly comfortable in them on long trips. Theres a couple of dozen different seats that bolt straight in.
