I just got a 95 disco on LPG, it didn't run real well performance wise, and a more mechanically minded friend helped me tune it up a lot better. A lot of this involved reconnecting vacuum hoses, and backing of the LPG output, and advancing the timing.
The thing is, the last owner had cooked the head, and had a new one installed, I was just wondering why, and what I can do to avoid it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Fit a low water sensor.

Run good quality plug leads and all ignition components must be in good condition.
I personally run the timing at 12 degrees BTDC and have not had issues.

Its almost impossible to cook an engine on LPG due to low coolant because the lack of coolant causes the vaporisor ( which is warmed by the coolant) to freeze up and essentially stops the flow of fuel. I bet the previous owner had stalling probs on LPG, switched to petrol and then cooked it.

I've driven taxi's that had ratty water pumps and freezing vaporisors and they were 100% gas:eek:. I just had to cruise to a stop and wait. Being depot cabs, some had water containers in the boot & you could pour water over the vaporisor ( converter, I just remembered) and get going again.
