Max, do you know who the teams are that have been selected? I heard Smmons is out, & Brett's foot surgery is going to be interesting, considerating the weight he pounds on that leg.

And the English captain is having problems as well, having to have cortisone injections ... so it may be doubtful he will play the Test.

Any more news I haven't heard about?:)

No I haven't followed it that closely, only what's in the Herald... Roy's replacement's been named & I've forgotten already.. Saun Tait?

Derby County have offered some extra warm up games, arising from the 20/20 early exit..

SBS are advertising Ashes coverage. They televised it last time too, but only the sessions after lunch.

"England crashed to one of their most ignominious cricketing defeats of all time, as the Netherlands won the ICC World Twenty20 curtain-raiser at Lord's by scoring two runs off the final ball amid scenes of scarcely believable drama ...

Chasing a target of 163, which would have been much higher had England batted with any conviction in the second half of their innings, the Dutch stayed up with the required run-rate throughout.
Tom de Grooth's 30-ball innings of 49 was the chief catalyst to a famous victory, and the sheer adventure shown by the Dutch was best exemplified by the four sixes they hit. England had failed to hit a single one. ...

and, in truth, the night was as much about a brilliant team performance from the Dutch as the desperately lacklustre cricket England produced..."

I'm such a little stirrer ...

"Ah, The Netherlands. Famous for Vincent van Gogh and other arty things, windmills, tulips, wooden clogs, their orange sporting kits, and now. Now, they are famous for having a cricket team! That can beat England! Well... That's not particularly difficult. Or surprising, given that England seem to heap a lot of their failure on themselves." :D:D

Oh Mr Cooper ... so you do watch the cricket then? Some of the best parts of cricket is watching the umpires & the bitching & moaning about their various calls ... I tell you cricket's got it all, history, comedy, skill, patience, good physiques in stylish uniforms ... especially good in slo mo :Rolling::Rolling:hell, you even get to listen to a good debate every now and again when the commentators get yabbering. The only other sport worth watching is horse racing ...

Now tell me what football has to offer??? :D

The skill of staying awake perhaps, the biggest action is when the umpires finger goes up.With good reason i should think, especially if you are the "uppee":o

Sorry if this sounds picky Panda, but how long have you followed cricket and how closely?

To be 2/60 odd is nothing unusual on the first day of a the first tour match for any touring team in any country. If Oz makes 250 or less in both innings of this match and follows up with worse or not much better in the next match while the opposition racks up much larger scores, you may have something to crow about prior to the opening test match. However, IMHO, you are jumping the gun just a little very early in the season...

Usually only watch the test matches, but am interested to see how we play leading up to Cardiff & who gets selected bowling wise.

349/7 at end of play ... I think we did well for the first day, considering a rather unconvincing start.

Yes, I always jump the gun ... I know it's early days yet :D
