Land Rover have been running full page adds in the newspapers for June "The Main Event" offering financial incentives for new Land Rovers. What have you been offered on a new defender?

Hey Mate,

Mine came with a free tank of fuel...other than that a very good price, best thing to do would be work the dealer...there is never any hurry to push the Defender sales as the dealers don't have as much room to move as a say Sport or a D3 plus some dealers are just F wits and sales staff don't like them because they don't like ripping there tight pants on the door catch...anywho...Which state are you in...i maybe able to direct you to a dealer worth dealing with for a Defender Purchase...

G'day Stu,

Yes my local dealer dosn't seem over keen to do much of a deal. He said that Land rover weren't doing anthing on the Defender. I'm in NSW on the north coast. Think I'll take up discusssions wityh the Sydney dealers again.

Yep. Defenders are a strictly retail price vehicle. With such low volumes and seeing as how they are actually the cheapest vehicle Land Rover sell you shouldn't expect much in the way of discounting. A free tank of fuel and maybe some floor mats or mud flaps is worth aiming for though.

I was going to say - I'd be surprised if there was any deal on Defenders. Land Rover have never really done deals on these vehicles because they are low volume. If someone wants one, they are often ordered rather than taken from the showroom, so the customer is obviously keen and LR know they will buy it - the dealers don't need to give any incentive.

You'll get a tank of fuel - take it or leave it!

I saved about 10% off retail when I bought my defender. You need to get the dealers to fight it out for your business. And I had to order it so neither dealer had an advantage.

Wow my defender 130 came heavily discounted off retail I feel privliged

Other dealers couldnt match the price but was alot of hard work and pushing to get the best price

I also got a cab chassis only and worked my own deal with the tub saving about $5k at the time

I did go to the trouble of contacting most dealers around the country when the chips were down in October last year!

I have read a few threads about not discounting on the Deefer. Whilst I acknowledge this may be true in many instances, the fact is some dealers want to move metal (or Aluminium). For serious buyers, I will advise of a quote I received from a Dealer....send me a PM. I had a good discount offered on a white Deefer 3 months ago but went for the SVX as it was a cracker of a deal!:)

We got several thousand off our Defender. Maybe it would be worth trying a car broker as the one we contacted got a very good price.
