Yep, i reckon the best fishing is Bass fishing, i love it!!
Not into the impoundment sought of stuff but love the wild river bass fishing.
Gotta love a huge surface strike on first light in the morning:cool:

So I guess that makes 'three' of us :D
I mainly search for trout in nsw and victoria at any time of year.
Rivers and streams in the open season - and impoundments during Winter .
I normally reserve my Bass fishing for Summer .
Nothing like using the Landy to get you down to a great remote freshwater stream and set up camp with a tent and a campfire

Trout chasing in the Snowys, anytime I can get away. The real reason for owing a Landy or two.

Ok - So we have a few starters :)
I was contemplating putting a few topics up for discussion specifically for the freshwater fishos out there .
Fly Fishing
Spin Fishing
Bait Fishing
Boat Fishing
Clothing
Gear and Tackle
I think this section of AULRO has been stagnating for a while so why not make an effort to make it work :)

Hey Kev
If you want to start seperate threads on those topics do so and I can sticky them so they are always at the top of the Shack and dont get lost in previous months threads if they get stale.

Thank's Andy ;)
I think I have to get used to the new 'posting photos' format on the forum first .
Last time I was here it was very easy :)
I used to just add a 'j-Peg' attachment to the post .
I will experiment with this before posting a new topic .
cheers
Kev .

Haven't worked out how to post full size pics yet but the 'attachments' seem to be working ok :)
Since it's Winter in Australia I thought that Clothing may be an important topic .

Hi Kev
Ive made that thread "sticky",it will remain up the top,add to it as you would a normal thread.
Great idea we shall see how they go.
If anybody else wishes to do similar threads let me know.

Bass and trout here too, although only a relative beginner. Now getting ever closer to retirement so will be looking to do more when possible. Oh, I also like catching and eating Yellowbelly (Golden Perch, Callup) from our western rivers.

That's a pretty good effort of 'hands up' guys :)
I'm sure there are lots more members out there that don't post often on the forum but also enjoy freshwater fishing .
I also teach 'Fly Fishing' if anyone is interested in that side of the sport :)

Hi Kev
A write up on fly fishing would be great.
Never tried it,but have watched a few masters of the art cast, its good to see.
Really enjoyed that Rob Stitch show on the ABC,A River Somewhere.Great fishing, scenery and comedy too.

Try and learn how guys -it is great fun. Then when you have mastered the basics try nightime fly fishing. Total black night and black flies - a real winner. And the golden rule is - The blacker the night the blacker the fly.

I don't mind a spot of flyfishing for trout. Hence the log on name :). Get to tassie as often as I can and down to northern NSW on the occassional long weekend. I love fishing small streams and dont mind if the fish are small so long as the scenery is good. Parking the landie by a stream setting up the tent and getting a fire going with a coldie in hand is heaven for me. I am defintely not a good fisherman. I am happy if a get a couple of fish on a trip and are just as happy to watch my fishing mate putting in the effort and catch all the fish :(.

Give me some time and I'll put up a topic post on the subject .
