Hi all

I just had another service on my Disco 300tdi.

My last service done at a reputable sa landy agent.

Had tappets done also and found motor was noticeably louder.

Another(my usual) mechanic did oil service and used a different oil(semi synthetic).
The motor is very noticeably quieter.
Had tappets re-done also and yes 3 were slightly loose but the oil made a big difference.

Next time I will use the new Nulon I heard good reports about.
Very very happy.

You do realise that perceived 'noise' per se is no indicator whatsoever of an oils performance ;)

Yep I do.

I do realise that most good quality oils nowadays are good and since I drop oils every 5k km's, its fair to say, the oil is doing a good job and its quieter.

V8Ian, its castrol actually.
I am ususally a fan of Penrite but this is good enough for me.
