I have a Poly Smart Bar on my D1. Although It looks good and I like the idea of it being light I still have my doubts on its ability of standing up to a run in with a roo. Has anyone tested one of these poly bars in anger and how did they stand up in protecting the vehicle?

According to a panel beater mate in western Queensland, they are the equal to any airbag compliant steel bar. He was refering to passenger car bars, however the results should be comparative. Impact with a medium size wallaby will result in damage to the bar but the impact is spread across a wider area. Usually the resultant damage is not severe enough to render the vehicle undrivable.

I have a smartbar on my Maxda dual cab T4000 tipper.
In the only accident I have ever been involved in, it worked a treat.
It wrote the little 180B off with hardly any damage to the bar at all:D.
Panel shop was most impressed.
From my experience, it did a smashing job:twisted:
Cheers Dean.
