With all the gear for a north west trip such as water fridge fuel ect I can not think of where to stow the land anchor. I dont realy want it on the roof rack, to heavy, (hernia causing ) Does anybody any ideas for mounting it.

Well I think a good approach is to buy her a few drinks first - then gently explain that you really didn't mean to bury her in the sand with a winch cable tied around her waist, but that you had no choice! Maybe then you'll both be happy sitting next to each other up front. :BigThumb:

G'day Allan,

I have seen comp vehicles with them mounted to the bullbar. Not sure what Harold Scruby would think of that. Not too pedestrian friendly.

Gosh - seems I got the old hand brake and the land anchor mixed up. Sorry bout that. :p

Seriously, behind the bullbar is one spot but a better position might be to somehow mount it on the rear spare - Kaymar make some gadgets for attaching shovels/picks to the rear mounted spare but you might need their wheel carrier too. :)

Scallops I tried burying her once in a moment of weakness when I bought a Nissan Patrol hence my return to Landrovers! She did most of the digging probably because she could see the Nissan disappearing into the Indian Ocean! Another contributing factor for me not using her as a land anchor is that she earns buckets more money a fortnight than I do and is actually more fanatical about the Defender!

Is there enough room to bolt it to the chassis rail???
