Hi just want to know if anyone else has foregone the little plastic clip on the clutch rod. I bought 2 new ones but it was a very cold day and the little legs broke of trying to get them on, so i just went without and clutch us fine so far.
What difference could it possibly make.
I think i will buy some spring steel wire and bend up something that wraps around the rod and a better arrow shaped bit to go thru the slot.
Any thoughts on going without it.

its purpose in life is an installation aid and to retain the rod when you pull the slave cylinder off. If you can get the clutch rod to stay in place without it you're laughing.
If you do want to use something else dont use a wire use a plastic item like a zip tie, In the field I use a pair, one around the fork and one around the arm and yes that setup can be done through the clutch slave hole if you drop the exhaust.
the same goes for the plastic pins that hold the the throw out bearing to the fork.

cheers for that, it seemed to stay in quite well and with some copper grease had a bit of suction- maybe this is a sign the arm is wearing and going to push thru soon.

no dice, they usually push through the pivot point first, unless you have an already reworked fork in there.
