I have put up with a tiny piece of cigarette packet wrapper making a whizzing noise when my aircon is on for a couple of years (too lazy to get it out).
But just today when i turn on my heater box fan it makes a loud whirring sound and vibrates the dash a bit and it is so annoying.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them ( is it common)- without taking it apart i am thinking its a bearing in the fan motor but it looks like a bugger to get too.

How easy to get to the fan motor?
any help appreciated

had something like that happen last week. I took the plastic grill of the top of the left hand front gard put my hand in and pulled out some foam that seals between the inlet and the fan
cheers Ian

You're lucky my Tdi's fan motor is knackered. Now left as one of those jobs for another day as I'd have to pull all the A/C unit out to get to the firewall bolts on the blower.

I'm in the same boat. And the new fans aren't cheap either. It's looking like it will never happen.
