View Full Version : Convex Mirror Glass - small type (PUMA) mirror - where?

I have the "small type" defender mirrors on my IIA with convex glass on both sides. This is the type that is tapered at the top. This type seems to only have been fitted to the Puma Defenders in oz??? Td5 and earlier vehicles seem to have been specced with the large type mirror for the OZ market.

Do the pumas have convex or flat glass on the drivers side?

Where is the best (i.e. cheapest) place to get a new glass for my DS mirror in OZ?

(if anyone wants to know what happened, my better half has to reverse down a long, narrow, tree-lined driveway at work...)

Thanks, Stu. Can you give me a price? I tried calling Rovacraft Perth several times. Get a message "hey there you've called "bec" sorry I can't get to the phone..."

Is there something wrong with the phone system in Perth.

Anthony at British 4WD Imports/Landy Spares (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120373483844) in Montrose sells the convex mirror heads without the arms for $30.

I bought one after smashing the driver's side up at Dargo over Ausday weekend. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't the same as the original but I needed a mirror.
After driving around for a little while, I bought another to replace the left side. :)

Thanks. I think I paid about $60 each for them (mirrors + arms) from FWD new back in 1998. I think I prefer them to the large (flat glass) mirrors on the 110. Better vision with the convex glass, and less likely to be moved by air drag when they get older - as happens with the larger type.

Actually, there was a post relating to this question some time ago - my Puma has flat glass (not convex) in both side mirrors.

Owners posted pics of their Puma mirrors - it seems there are different shaped mirrors with flat or convex glass fitted to different vehicles - go figure. Some are convex, some are not.
