My Disco TD5 had a surging problem at high reves when accelerating hard. Went recording with my newly aquired nanocom & found the MAF sensor reading dropping to zero for 2 seconds causing the surging. Disconnected the MAF plug & it ran great but soon found fuel economy severly worse. Cleaned the MAF out with contact cleaner, no more surging, recorded graphs were stable & fuel economy returned.
Could anyone tell me what reading to expect from the MAF. IT looks normal, climbs steadily to read about 200 then within 1 second gets to 600, then tops out at about 680. This may be normal but I'm a little suspicious of it as the default value on the Nanocom graphic viewer for the MAF needs to be doubled to fit the reading within view.
