Hey Fellas,

In recent days I have noticed a distinct clacking noise that feels and sounds like it is coming from the drive train (LT95). :(

Without having had the time to have a good look yet I am litlle concerned to what it may be?

It appears to only do this when decellerating to a halt.. Hope its nothing too serious.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

The only similar thing I can think of is the hand brake grabbing slightly. Try backing the adjustment off a little and see if it makes any difference.

Loose nuts on the prop shaft?

Another easy thing to check, is for play in the propshaft unijoints. I've had them make all sorts of interesting noises when worn.

As the others said - dragging handbrake, either adjusted too tight, mechanism not free or oil on the shoes will exacerbate drive line slack, particularly when coming to a stop.

Loose drive flange bolts at either end of either prop shaft or worn u-joints will give this effect, and this should be urgently checked, as a prop shaft letting go at high speed is definitely not something you want first hand knowledge of, and particularly the u-joints are likely to go from a little bit of free play to letting go very rapidly. Loose drive flanges are less likely to let go rapidly, but enlarged holes in the flanges will be more expensive to repair if let go unchecked.
