Each topic will run for approx. two weeks and end on alternate weeks.
(this should make it easier for winner to be contacted and to come up with a new topic).

Posting of entries will end at 9pm (Sydney) on a Sunday night (unless its a public hol. on Monday ... then it ends on Monday night).
Any pics posted after 9pm (Sydney) will not count and any votes will be discarded.
I'll know the NSW public Hols but may need a nudge for interstate ones ;)

Voting can start at 9pm (Sydney) Sunday and will ends at 9pm (Sydney) Tuesday (except for holidays as above where it gets moved back one day)
You cannot vote for your own pic.
Anyone can vote, whether you have an entry or not.
A pic that wins a comp becomes ineligible for future comps (I'll do my best to police this one, but will need cooperation) non winners can be re entered in a future comp.
Entries must be taken by you and a maximum of two entries are allowed.
Please name your entry so we know which of your pics is being voted on.
Pics are to be no larger than 800 pixels on the long side. (roughly 250 kb max)

Frames are allowed.
Post processing is allowed.
Pics from your archives allowed
The winner can enter pics in his/her own topic.

The winner can make special rules for that comp, eg:
[one old and one new pic]
[must be two new pics]
[must be straight from the camera]
["critters" must be alive! ]
[no frames]
[etc]

Comments are invited throughout the comp

Only the first vote from each voter is counted but you can say who you would have voted second, third etc if you like.

A draw after 2nds, 3rds etc. are taken into account will be by a toss of a coin

The winner of the comp gets to pick the next topic. This can be posted any time between winner being announced and the following Sunday.

most important rule ...
Have Fun

Hopefully these rules will work, PM if you feel changes are needed. However lets let it run for a while to settle down.

I've pretty much stolen the rules from the OL photo comps which have been running for quite a number of years very successfully (thanks Shane).

I think you need to be more clear about the voting. If it's not mandatory to vote 2nd, 3rd etc, in a draw situation how will you take into account 2nds, 3rds etc as per your second point above?

X2 - voting sounds confusing:confused:

Unless there is a 2nd and 3rd compulsory vote how will you determine the tie breaker

Whilst it's not a requirement to register a 2nd, 3rd etc I suspect many will. If there is a draw after counting the firsts I will use those 2nds/3rds etc. If still a draw I'll toss a coin. ( or just give it to the loudest whinger :D)
