Guys

I just wanted to say thanks to all that report the spam...makes it easy for us to find

But before you hit that report button Just take a look under the name of the spammer. If it says BANNED then there is no need to report as one of us has already rid him from the site and we are just waiting for the relevant mod of that area to come and delete the posts.......

This just stops the clogging of reports from several members:)

Thanks for your help

Lou

Do these guys join up like everyone else (i.e. a real human being) and start posting away their rubbish, or is it some sort of automated thing?

x2

It's strange how you notice these things immediately AFTER you hit the 'Submit' button.

Thanks for the reminder though Lou, I'm sure we'll all try to be more alert in the future.

That's alright - I disagree with DB.

For example, the last spammer mnop396 had posted in six areas but there were only reports from three.

If a general Mod bans and deletes the one post that's reported, it makes it harder to find the rest until they are eventually reported. However, Super Mods (ahem) and Admins can, if the post hasn't been deleted, easily find all other posts by that spammer, merge them all, and get rid of them in one fell swoop.

In the case of mnop396, I had to undelete the deleted post, so I could find all the other posts.

I'd prefer it if a general Mod just banned the spammer and left it for a Super Mod to clean up.

Ron you just click on his name and click "find all posts by *enter username here*"

I did this from one of his posts in another forum to find how many he has done. you then (if your a super mod hit the tick box and then hit delete at the bottom you dont even have to merge them)

Its very easy to find them......I did it and I'm not even a super mod

Yes, but it won't work if you click on his username after the post has been deleted. The other problem is that even if you do find them, unless you have rights on all found areas, you can't get rid of the posts.

Yes I know thats why I wrote super mod ;)

but if you click on the user name then it should take you to his profile and you click on statistics and there you can click...find all posts by this user.

the profile doesn't get deleted even if they are banned.
