Thought I'd put a nice eye catching title in;)
You wouldn't believe how many people won't wave at us on the open road!!!!
To top it all off we've passed:
1 Defender - waved (L plates too)
2 D1's - no waves
1 D3 - no wave
2 Rangies - no waves
1 Freelander - no wave
Hoping now we're out of Toyota territory we might see a few more friendly drivers on the road. I would say only 30% of those we pass wave back. What's happening to this country!

Hi to you both, glad to hear you're travelling safely.
Probably is the tinted windows as it's difficult to see the driver sometimes. Just roll down your window and give a BIG wave. Sadly most Disco drivers don't wave at Defenders (so we have found anyhow).
Mind you, when you get into Western Qld. EVERYONE seems to wave.
Keep on waving....:spudnikwaving::spudnikwaving:
...and enjoy your holiday.

And i drive a D1 and wave to EVERY land rover! :) I find having p plates on my car makes a lot of you older folk look down on me and not wave :(

Not sure I would wave, but I'll be certain to look down on you from my Unimog :)With that sort of attitude you'd be right at home on a Toyota Land-Cruiser forum. :D ;)
We Land Rover drivers may not be as high and mighty as UniMog drivers, but we get there faster and a whole lot cheaper.
dm td5 - I wave at any (and as much as possible all) Defender, Disco, Rangie or Series in whichever Rangie or Series I'm driving at the time. So I'll give you 3 proxy waves just so you're not too demoralised.

Funny thing is I get heaps of waves from Toyatas and Nissans now my 120 has 35's, Bull bar and snorkel. The Rangies and Discos just seem to wonder what I'm waving at:confused: Some Land Rover owners just dont get it at all:(

To be honest I don't even bother unless it's a defender. I get pretty much 100% success in the fender too. :)
Every now an again I'll try some of the old classic stuff and get results :)

Oh almost forgot to mention the tossers from a 4WD group (displayed proudly across their windscreens). Driving offensively, Chattering obnoxiously and... well you get the message. Generally the type that gives 4wd's a bad name:(

I ALWAYS wave to any rovers - even when I'm not driving my Series IIA :D
I get some funny looks from Disco drivers as a P-Plater driving a HZ Kingswood waves at them hahahah
When in the IIA I get the whole arm going out the window as it is open topped :p
(that's when in a straight line, need two hand to go round corners :D)

Out here i get 100% waves from defender drivers, locals and tourists, but the disco's i'm flat out getting 1 in 10 to wave, i understand that sometimes its the missus picking up the kids and don't understand the finer points of owning a lr, but you would be surprised how many ladies out here wave to you when they are also driving a defender:D:D.

Derek , I'm afraid I fit into this catagory.:p -minus- the chattering
May be I should take the 4wd banner off the front of windscreen.:p

Well got a wave from a surprised D1 driver today, passed 2 other d1's and a D2 without even the raising of a finger tip. Don't think they know what a Defender is:(
Still most people don't wave at all.

I got a reply today from a white Defe 110 on the old Bundy bridge :o
The local farmers on a Defe do not bother to wave back here :(

Try doing the wave with the single front of the finger. You might find it works better than the back of the finger  :D :wasntme: :lol2: :BigThumb:

Well it still continues. Passed 2 Defenders today and one yesterday along with a D1 and a 2 door RR. Did any of them wave? Of course NOT!!! :(
THE LANDY WAVE IS A MYTH!!!!!!!:o
I'm now convinced of it.
As to the rest of the common motorists. I'm finding about 10% of them can manage to raise a few fingers off the wheel.
