Good weblink here:

scroll down a bit

Land Rover gear ratios (http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/gear_ratio.htm)

As Diana says high range are same , low range seems to vary.

na there not

Yes they are.

High range is the same on both.

Low range on suffix A and B SIIA t-cases was 2.89:1, on suffix C and SIII it was 2.5:1

There are high ratio t-cases available aftermarket, but that is a different matter.

na there notmaybe I should have been more specific.

The transfer box hi ratio in the regular - bonneted control Land Rovers have the same ratios whether they are Series IIa or Series III.

There are a variety of low ratios in the transfer boxes between Series II and Series IIa regular bonnetted control Land Rovers although late series IIa continue to be the same ratios as the Series III.

HOWEVER: If you consider the helical transfer boxes fitted to the series forward control Land Rovers there are two different high ratios 1.3:1 for the very early SIIa forward control and 1.53:1 for the SIIb and bonnetted control "1 Ton" model. Again the SIIb f/c and SIIa and SIII bonneted control 1 Ton models had the same ratios in the transfer box for low and high ratio irrespective of whether they were SIIa/SIIb or SIII.

As outlined by isuzurover, it is not that simple - the ratios, vary, but as with most changes, the change did not happen with the change from 2 tot 2a - you have to look at the serial number suffixes, in this case, the box serial number suffix! They kept the overall ratio in first/low the same, but changed both low ratio in the T/C and the ratios of the indirect gears in the main box.
