Yep you heard right, Project dunga is to be retired and stripped come October when rego will expire. Rememebr the dunga was never a long term project hence the meserly amount of $$$ spent, if it had to be fixed it was. It's been bloody good service to me as well :)

Okay, it's a 1992 Range Rover (of course, Discos just don't do it for me sorry :(). It a top of the range Vogue SE so fully optioned with leather electric seats, sunroof (not working), ABS brakes, woodgrain trim and all the fancy bits that the SE spec offers. Only issue is the ZF auto is shot to pieces (reverse works ). It's had a fair amount of work done by the previous owner including new head gasket and recon heads, radiator, ABS accumulator, pads, rotors and caliers have all been done, new exhaust, new hood lining, new Michelin tyres, new fuel pump, new Viscous coupling in the transfer case and other stuff. Plenty of $$$ spent and all for the measerly sum of $1K :banana::banana:

I have a ZF auto in the Disco (wrecking now, PM for parts) and a LT230 to match so it shouldn't be too much to have it registerd. I won't be taking the dunga off the road til well after the Logan Challenge, Glasshouse as I just won't have it all done in time and like I said, regoed til October anyway so I have plenty of time :)

The new beast is on it's way from Sydney as we speak (been picked up today). Should have it by the end of the week I hope before I go away to Rover park. Can't wait

Thanks Justin. The though of me driving a Discovery doesn't seem right :( Been there, done that.

The good thing about the Disco was it donated the ZF/LT230 for the Rangie I just bought (at $1250 for a whole Disco, wreckers want that for the ZF on it's own probably more ). Starting the deconstruction tomorrow as they'res no bloody work around atm :mad:

PS- Have a rebuilt BW viscous coupling transfer for sale in the markets including a dud ZF for free (available in the next fornight).

eh, travadachangacarsallatime eh mate.
welcome to the carsales forum, where trav buys cars and never sells them,

another trav find, in pristine condition, soon to be modified and debauched, christened with mud and scratched with lantana, creased in the lower panels and cut and lifted untill it clears tall buildings, with more traction than a steam train, bigger tyres than an aeroplane, able to leap rocks in a single low range gear, 1st low, locked centre, front and rear, that would be.
we welcome to travs stable the

green mean fighting machine,

which is too long a tag for trav, so gmfm, for short.

:Rolling::Rolling::Rolling:Very funny Harry. I sell cars but in bits though :twisted:

It already has a dent in the rear RHS (hard to see in the pic). Like the GMFM abbreviation. You might have given the Rangie it's new project name

Good buying Trav, I was talking to TM about it too, you must've been the other interested party!:)
I worked out the freight costs to be prohibitive to here, especially as it was a non driver. even for the 1K asking price it still wasn't going to be viable for me:(

Good to see you back in a Vogue SE, especially one in that condition:cool:

Thanks Justin. I had to act quickly, I passed up a real good Vogue (not an SE) a few months ago and I was kicking myself that I didn't buy it. Thankfully I have a ZF auto and LT230 out of the Disco I'm wrecking to get it going again.

Cost Door to Door from Sydney to my place here in Jimboomba QLD was $750 9not bad actually, I had a Rangie towed from the Sunshine Coast to my old place in marsden a few years back and it cost nearly $300 :eek:).

It was actually deleted from the marketplace alerts by the 'forum police', it wasn't put in the markets itself. I thought it had sold but I got the e-mail and pics a couple of days later (plus I rang the bloke ASAP) and it all went from there.

Uncontrolled hacking and dodgy repairs aren't on the adgenda for this one. It's a nice Rangie lets keep it that way (won't stop me fitting 35's and lockers just have to do it...what that word... properly :o).

New project thread up soon, just have to get it up here first.

Long live the Dunga

It will be a sad day when I finally de-register it, for the lack of expense and what I have put it through it just keeps going and going. If the new Rangie is sarting to take a bit longer than I expect, the dunga may live on for a few months longer so don't dispair :)

I tell you what the disco idea didn't last long:p
Just imagining the green machine with all the dunga gear slapped on properly;)
That colour will look choice with all the gear i reckon:thumbsup:
Hope it's ready by Coffs...

Thanks Tim.

The Dunga will still be going by Coffs that if it's survives the Logan Challenge but Project Dunga has been a great Rangie and I'll just keep using it til it dies. Just pay 6 months rego from now on so I don't loose too much money if it falls to bits if I cash the rego in :D

Good work on finding another rig, Trav.

I knew you would. Great price. I paid $800 just for a new Radiator a few months back!

So basically you got the truck for free!;)

Look forward to seeing it in action:twisted:

You can't keep a Rangie owner down, once you have one regardless of any other LR you can't get away from them and I'm lovin' it :D:D

Just arrived this arvo on my front lawn, I would have it in the shed but she don't want to go anywhere with a horrid clunk, clunk, clunk from the gearbox. It moved about 6 feet and stopped  Engine took a few turns and splutterd into life, nothing a good service would fix and some degreasing.

Had a real good look at her, pretty straight and generally a decent rig and should come up pretty good once I sort out the suto gearbox issue. They'res a nasty rust hole in the floor (about 400mm long on the passenger side) and the RHS door has had the rust worm attack it too and the electric seat on the drivers side plasy silly buggers (the mirrors move instead of the seat, something to do with the ECU for the preset memory seats). the firewall has started to rot a bit but it looks as if it's been prevented judging by the layer of deadener but will investigate further.

I didn't expect a showpiece for a grand and it's a hell of a lot better than I thought it would be. Rangies are a funny vehicle, they rust from the inside out

Almost impossible to find a Rangie Classic with Air Con & no rust under the floor. Mine also has some cancer on the firewall under the Brake Booster area.

"Tectyl" is truely awsome stuff for stopping any further rust and also preventing rust. You can buy it in a spray can now. You probably already Know about it, but just in case.

I Have drowned every lap joint on the body of my truck a few times now and despite having some lap joints with gaps for water and mud to get in, the rust just wont touch it. I sware by the stuff:) I sprayed the front floors with the stuff once 10 years ago and i still have an Air Con leak beleive it or not, but the floor has no further rust at all. My truck still has the original upper tail gate frame and it has some rust spots from earlier on in its life, but nothing since I attacked it with the Tectyl. You wont find a Gold Coast Range Rover 20 years old with an Upper Tail Gate frame as good as mine.
I owe it to that the magic stuff!

I beleive part of the reason why it's so good is it never drys. It always has some degree of tackyness to it.....thats the only negative thing about it really.

No I dont own the company or have shares in it:p

you're right about tectyl buzz, best stuff for flying boats, ally doesn't like salt water.
