Hi Guys

Have been lurking for a while and reading up as well as doing some searches.. I used to have an 01 TD5 which i loved, and sold that about 7 years ago, am now looking at a D3 HSE V8 2005 build / 06 delivery .. am trying to find a brochure or the exact manufacturers specs on the vehicle so i know what it should have .. the seller is not exactly forthcoming with a lot of info ..

Does anyone have a link or a brochure in pdf /scanned for the 05 HSE V8 ? or know an accurate link ??

The HSE has 73k on the clock, owner will take $40k .. is this a good deal?

Anything i should be looking out for?

Appreciate any feedback or info

A while back I looked at same car.
That sounds very good providing has full history etc.
Check on tyres and I do believe major service due at 80k.

Go on the landrover website they have full spec sheet.
The HSE has all the cream though.
There would be everything included.

Good luck and nice car.

Is this one of the 5 seats spec that LRA brought in ?
The asking price is top wack . Mid 30's is all he'd get from a Dealer
for cash ....... if he could find anyone that is . No doubt doesn't intent
to continue with LR . If you like it , take your chances , but repairs
will cost the earth. There is no way of knowning what will fail you.

The UK and USA specs are not ours. Log onto redbook and read a spec sheet.
They're reasonably accurate .......

Hi Neil

The UK site has the australian owners manual.. what was the difference with the 5/7 seater HSE 's ?? just the extra seats?? am i better off looking for an 06 onwards?

says he is going overseas, needs to sell, has a service history ?

Just the seats , I think ......... Still has twin air and HiICE ( third row buttons ) controls.
Will obviously have warranty period service . If he HAS to sell ,offer him $34k. A car mob wouldn't give him any more you know.
The first thing they say is " No one wants the 5 seater , Mate . No use for school-runs. " .This maybe why he's
trying to sell it himself , if it's a 5 seater .

PS. The extra seats were $3500 at the time .LRA didn't specify them in an attempt to keep the $103000 OTR rec price under control.
PPS . Check it for odour of coolant & diff oil.

look underneather for signs of the front diff leaking (means an least a re-conditioned diff as the oil gets contaminated),check for noise and movement in the suspension (bushes)
At that few KMs you may get some concideration from LR for warrnty if it was serviced by a dealer.

Not much between 05 and 06 in the HSE in specs. If you can get the 05 for a good price maybe put the extra money aside for repairs and upgrades. The 05 is low mileage anyway. Depends on condition of the two really.

I have an 05 HSE.

7 seats standard
Rear Air standard
Leather standard (S & SE had cloth)
Hi ICE standard
Bi-Xenons standard

Satnav was an option
Sunroof option
Premium ICE (Logic7) option
Active cornering lights option

Get the VIN and check with a dealer. They can look up the build spec for the individual car.

thanks guys, I just had a look at another 05 HSE V8 at a Trivett, $44k with 84'000klm on it, but 3 months warranty, and full dealer service history.. even the guy at the dealer admitted the Black one for $40k was a good buy as it looks very clean..he is checking the build/service history for me with the VIN .. as long as the service history checks out may be ok..

He also checked another that is advertised as a 2006 HSE V8 with 47000klm for $52k.. turns out it is actually an 05 build (early 05) first registered in 06.. which is the same as the black one for $40k..

Some of the 05 HSE models are 5 seat only, which is quite unusual. Even if you only want 5 seats it may impact resale as the next owner may wonder what is going on.

You don't even gain the storage space under the seats - they put the jack or something there.

I was offered an unregistered 05 HSE 5 seat for the same price as a new 06SE 7 seat I think when I bought mine. The improvements were leccy seats (wife is the same height so we don't adjust) and hi-ice. Decided the newer model year and 7 seats were more important.

Cheers, Steve

Quite correct there were some 5-seater V8 HSEs. Not a spec that made a lot of sense to me, but there you go. The S-spec 5-seater TDV6 is another story, that's the go for the grey nomad tourer.

Thanks Guys

It is a 5 seater, which doesn't worry me, well the guy just accepted my offer of $38'000, so the price was right .. I had the VIN checked out through a dealer, so i know the history of the vehicle and subject to the vehicle being in the immaculate condition he claims, and having the the full dealer service history he claims i don't think it's too bad a deal.. 2005 build, first registered March 2006..

It will have a pretty easy life, tow my bikes around and not do a huge amount of klm's...

Congratulations with your new D3 that is a very nice HSE, I offered him 36K on Sunday with the two front bald tyres or 37K with new tyres. He obvously refused.
To compare it to another D3 on the market for similar money, I looked at the Silver 05 V8 HSE at Trivett's for 44K with 84k on the clock when they first got it and it was a total mess, actually beyond belief how bad it looked nad I'm very surprised they let me see and drive it. Obviously it had been bashed through the bush quite a lot and it had a huge box fitted in the back which they were going to take out along with the CB radio's fitted in where the sat nav they fitted now is. Still that didn't put me off of it completely but the fact that the books only had one stamped service in them did. When I asked the salesman for its service history he said he could only offer me the books as a record and as they only had one service recorded that was as good as it gets.

I guess that is why they fitted Sat Nav to make it look like a better proposition for the money.

Anyway the one you brought is a very nice car in excellent condition and should serve you well, I'm going to hang out a bit longer to see what else pops up. By the way what Ducati do you ride?

Welcome to the V8 club. I have one of the early 5 seater V8's and it's just what I wanted (it's a bit lighter without the extra seat, so more payload). Key problems seem to be the normal ones - park brake dragging, and generally getting to know the electric systems. Even with the low profile 19" wheels, my 21 yr old daughter made it up some dunes that stumped experienced drivers with a diesel. If driven with a light touch I can get 13-14 litres/100kms on the highway. In 3 yrs absolutely nothing to report with the engine other than a sinking sensor in the coolant tank (common early fault fixed under warranty. If you don't have the problem, then you probably won't). Mine's set up for rough offroad, which seems at odd with having a deluxe V8, but it suits what I need. If you want to drive offroad, I suggest picking up an inexpensive set of extra wheels (others like to bling up and trade in 19" wheels) and put MTRs on (makes 21 yr old daughters feel like a dune-basher).
