Castor correction on Donaldson springs

Two years ago I fitted new standard height Isuzu 110 from Donaldson springs Rockhampton. I noticed a huge NEGATIVE change in steering. The previous springs were probably 2 inches lower, so effectively had a big lift. Also, Donaldson indicates the springs are taller than OEM.

After two years of procrastination I finally bought some caster correction bushes and had them fitted. What a change. No more wandering or tracking. A huge improvement.

I'm in a similar boat here, as I fitted a set of King springs and Bilstien shocks on the front of my 110, all was well. I did it for a trip to Fraser Island, they gave me about fourty mil lift which was a fair bit! but On Fraser I experience a metallic click when the left hand side suspension was stressed a bit, and its still there I have tried to track it down with no success did you have anything like this? Only I'm thinking it might be something to do with the castor being out!!

the click noise could be the spring unseating and reseating, you said you have had new shocks fitted they could have a longer travel than the spring free height thus causing the spring to unseat.

It should be ok as 40mm lift is bugger all really, look for new rubbing on the chassis just next to the radius arms. usually it affects bigger lifts where the standard panhard rod pulls the radius arm into the chassis.

I t seems to happen when the spring is compressed, say I'm driving along and take aleft hand turn off the road up a slight ramp at say 25 30 Klm's, it clicks as if something is loose! I did think it was a bush but I have change all but the panhard rod bushes, when I changed the springs & shocks.
Ideally I need my mate to lie on the ground while I go up an down a ramp at 25-30klm's to see if he can spot where the click is coming from! can't understand why but he won't!!!:eek:

the bolt clamps on the front steering rod could be hitting your steering strut.

your mate is not real trusting Ted, it's hard to get good help:D:D.

with worn bushes in the panhard rod you would get some steering wonder as well, it's hard to tell some times on your own car how bad it is as you get used to it as it gets worse. sit the car in the drive way and have some one move the steering wheel back and forth as you look at the panhard rod mounts.

an expensive thing that makes clicks when cornering is CV joints,to check get in a big open paddock and do some slow figure 8's.

check your brake lines are secure as well.
