I have five. I was given one, and then someone saw it and gave me another, someone else saw that and thought I collected them, I got another, and then it seemed to someone else it would be a good pressie as I'm so obviously a collector and so it goes on.

It's a hand made job. A mate bought it for us in Africa years ago. It was made out of Agip oil tins and is hand painted, and has a flip up roof

I have a few but the one that always surprised me was the Australia Zoo Defender 90. I got that from Australia Zoo in 1999 . And what surprised me was that 90's wern't in Aus by that time and Australia Zoo was sponsered by Toyota and did nit use Land Rover . Its the small one on the right

Not many, just the usual stuff. The only unusual one is the black RRC that I got off my nephew who is now 19 and gave his matchbox collection to my son.

Mine is only a moderate collection compared to some I know. Also people buy them for me as birthday / xmas presents etc (most often my kids give them to me). I have been collecting on and off for about 17 years. Was one of the Trax / Top Gear founding members when they first started out, but dont get them too often anymore because they bring too many out to quick these days. Will get LR's as I see them.
Mainly concentrating on Brock and Bathurst Cars now. There is one guy I have heard of that has over 1000 of the 1 1/18th cars:eek::eek:

Here is my lil series model. Its a Dinki Di Land Rover that was given to me by a kind enthusiast who I bought a bull bar and winch from. His collection was just incredible, and his said that this could start off my collection. Well, I'm not sure I'll ever be a collector, but it does sit really nicely on top of my computer subwoofer.

I think that's the same model as mine Slunnie. Even has the matching broken front bumper.:lol2: (Must have been a design fault)

I have seen the matching trailer on ebay for only a few bucks - they pop up regularly.

That is also the same DInky as the one in my avatar!

I have seen mint boxed version for sale for many hundreds of dollars.

Note: You can also just see the rear PTO on the back corner.:)

It is the same as your avatar too Sleepy, I'd never noticed the connection! And you're right about PTO etc too. Actually, I'd never noticed the PTO, broken bumper or the tow hook on it until just now. :( Mind you I did wonder why it had white tyres....

Looking through a box of deceased estate stuff at work I came across this old Matchbox series 2 or 2a 'Safari' from circa 1965:

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/07/22.jpg

So had to photograph a few more, starting with the series 1s. Currently available from Hornby:
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/07/23.jpg

Then a series 3, one of the common $3 chinese made brands
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/07/24.jpg

And getting all modern with a td5 Defender, creek crossing made easy (don't want to flood the ecu):
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/07/25.jpg

then moving up in scale, another series 3 LWB. Seems farmer Joe doesn't seem too happy to have a chat with the old swaggie when there is heavy work to be done. Which is man's best friend, the swaggie's dog or the farmer's old Landie?
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2010/11/78.jpg

I have a bunch more put away somewhere from 1:160 scale up to 1:24 and have a few kits put away for a rainy day.

I would like to acquire a series 2a SWB truck cab:ohyes:!

Cheers,
Mark

Bought a SII LWB in Light grey today. 1:18 scale. Bloody nice too.
Now my collection of Landy's are two and VW Beetles six.
One of the Beeltes is a 4x4 monster truck.

I recently saw a rock climber RC model with a Defender body available.
About 1:10th scale.

Yes I buy up old diecast land rovers off ebay all the time. I don't like the new ones - I prefer the old beat up scratched up models from the 50's and 60's. (Bit like real ones!!!)

The orange one is from the early 1950's - I saw a mint condition version for sale for GBP 600 :eek2:. I paid a lot less for that one !

hehehe..same like me, i'd prefer to buy the old scratches one than the mint one for the oldies2...beacause in my country (indonesia) the old one itself is pretty much expensive...:D...and the mint one could be 4 time more expensive than the ugly beated up one... hihihi..
but its more classic n interesting to have the old scratches one than the mint one...

I note a few of the early photos are gone(must be that rapture thingy:angel:) so feel free to post or repost your models.
I started buying them on ebay a few years back and have about 50 or so piled up on the shelf.

Here are a few of my favourite models.

The Police S3 has a working siren, I also love the orange Dinky with trailer - its from the 50's. Very hard to find without a broken front bumper, at least I have the Gentleman Driver!. The little 90 is about 16mm long.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2011/06/1418.jpg

This one I believe is also fairly rare, it is a modern tin model, quite large and seemingly fairly well made.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2011/06/1419.jpg

This is one you have to put together yourself but it is still diecast metal.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2011/06/1420.jpg

This fella standing on James Bond is fairly unique as well, with a little bit of work you can see his transformation.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2011/06/1423.jpg

The others all have a little bit of a story, a couple of nice Series 1s, a good set of Series 3s and the James Bond ones have the booklet to go with them.

I've managed to collect a few now over the last year or two mostly via ebay. I started off buying ones i remember having as a kid
Mostly defender 90's from the 80's and 90's, my favourites the bacardi special edition with the matching speed boat. I buy any that come with trailers because i always used to lose the trailers haha. In the middle is a pristine lesney superfast from the 50-60's i think.

some freelanders and disco's

the top shelf has the models of yesteryear which are bigger and a bit more exxy and but super detailed. Theres also a handful of oxford railway scale ones.

i have about 56 diecast and a bunch more double which arent on display and are still in their boxes. I keep the boxes to the rarer or more expensive ones but mostly I'm not too fussed as their real value is out on display in my study :)

Got myself this neat toy the other week, with intention to make an RC out of it. but it was just to nice a model to do that to.

Its a high quality german kids toy, made by a compant called Bruder (link bellow, and a youtube review)

Hello,

I have a few originals stacked away that might be of interest:

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1779.jpg

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1780.jpg

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1781.jpg

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1782.jpg

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1783.jpg

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1784.jpg

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1786.jpg

All of these are original without touch up paint other than on the Corgi canopy, new tyres etc. Some of the boxes are reproductions, but not all.

The green Dinky Land Rover is one of the later production runs because it has a reinforced front bumper bar with two extra supports - few of the earlier run models still have the bumper intact because they typically broke off at the centre supports. I guess in that sense the models mimic the real thing.........

I am thinking of selling the Dinky trailer (green with reproduction box) if anyone is interested.

Cheers,
