WABCO ABS Module

Hi Guys

How hard would it to Bypass the WABCO ABS Module and take it out of the engine bay completely ,I need room under the Bonnet :angel: what's the Process involved , I have no ABS working on Rangie atm.

Some one here has done this a wile back. I'm fairly sure it may involve changing the steel lines. Put Fender calipers on the front and a post 94 D1 master cylinder with pipes would sort it if you part out a Disco one day.

I've got Fender calipers on it now , I'll have a looksie at your set up when I come over. :):) if it needs a Post Disco M/S I can source one from TRS , no worries :cool:

You may be able to retain your old master cylinder and just replace the right hand steel pipe hopefully:) Just look into the legality of it before you pluck it out.:)

My old girl is non ABS any way so has twin steel pipes to the fronts and Fender have singes such as update models. I'm chasing better brakes as have to be able to stop mine with 35's on. My 120 stops on a dime with the 4 wheel disc on 35's so is achievable. So on the Rangie I'm going to try the Disco master cyl with fender calipers and by pass the proportional valve and maybe fit a variable one if the rear brakes to savage.

In my case.....Larger displacement pistons = more friction at the same given pedal force:)

totally agree, our 93 3 doors has Defender calipers/rotors and Goodrich lines and stops easily on 36's. The latest acquisition (oh why did I do it!) is a 95 S1 upgrade with ABS that is hopeless with spongy pedal and Wabco pump that groans like a dying cow. Heavy (read frustrated) brake application resulted in ABS light now permanantly on and several serial offending fault codes. I've swapped out the rotors and calipers to Defender and installed Goodrich lines bled the system 7 times in 7 different ways but this gave only a slight improvement in overall braking. So, next step is to ditch the ABS unit which should provide the same pedal feel and effortless braking of the 93 car..hopefully! PS the car brakes much better when the ABS unit shuts itself down:0

Just fit the master cylinder/brake booster, etc. from a late 80's RR that didn't have ABS.

Yep. That's the way to go. I wasn't sure when the ABS started but I'd go as late as possible from a non-ABS model (and when the change was made to metric fittings).

Did this to my 93 RR, now runs the old booster/master off my 83 RR
