G'day all.
As some of you may remember my old Series II, the Turtle, is in storage in Bathurst.
Just got a phone call from the storage place 'kindly' informing me that they sold the business and EVERYONE has to move out by 26 July.
so...
I need to ask a BIG, HUGE favour from someone to help me transport the Series II from Bathurst to Sydney - Blacktown to be exact.
Pls PM if you can help out and name your price.
Cheers

If it's driveable, give one of the bigger car carrying mobs a call.
They often come back empty from country trips.
Try CEVA or Toll first, then maybe the smaller ones.
Or hire a trailer & do it yourself (if you have a decent tow vehicle).

Not drivable. Hasn't been started for yonks.
Flandie is a bit weak for that sort of a tow methinks.

I just had a thought.
If there is anyone who has a car trailer capable of carrying an 88 and if I could borrow it, I can arrange to get a vehicle to pull it...

I have towed 3 series 1 88's with my Freelander - one trip was over 400km from the Blue Mountains to Canberra. A 88 on a smaller car trailer is just on the 2 tonne Freelander tow capacity.
They tow really well - a bit slow up hill but can cruise 80-100kph.

you can rent a trailer for 80 for around 6hours.....that's what I did with Ians 2a and the 2a we picked up from Sydney. We hired it from the caltex servo near ours I'm sure there would be someone in the area with a similar thing

If you get stuck, we have an ACE member in Bathurst who may be able to look after your LR for a bit.
I don't know if his current yard is as big as his last one though.

Thanks guys.
Looking at the weight issue:
88 Series II is just shy of 1300 kg
Trailers from U-Haul or Kennards are 800 kg with rating of 1200 kg
That'd bring the total weight to 2100 kg.
Not sure it that'd be
a) legal
b) healthy for the Flandie or the trailer

I towed a series 1 80" back from Mendooran behind my series 2
a few years ago. It went 2.1 ton behind the land rover SWB.
No problem flew over Mt Vic in first easy, pulled top gear most of the way.
Steady trip but it surprised me how easy the series 2 handled it.
My Mate said it would need Lo range at Mt Vic. It surprised him
that it nearly got over the steep bit in second, but i slipped into 1st
Just to be shure. It was a big day but we done it easy.
Only done it for a dare, but proved a point....

Give U-Haul a call, they have two car trailer types, the painted ones are rated to 1200kg and weigh 800kg, the galvanised ones are 700kg weight and 1300kg load IIRC, I used a gal one to get my 2a home behind a huyundai :) ~$80 for 6 hours as DB said.
Here's a photo of the one I used:

Thanks guys for all your help and suggestions.
I found storage in the area and getting a tow truck. Easier and cheaper this way.
