Hi All
The lift is complete plus other goodies fitted. I would like to thank everyone who gave valuable information through this forum whiched helped me get this far.
The spring upgrade to my 2006 D3 S coiler is complete, so I thought I would share the results which may be of benefit to other coiler owners.
The suspension measurements seem to have settled to the following after driving the vehicle for a few days and also subjecting the new springs to maximum articulation limits which had diagonally opposite wheels completely off the ground (the traction control worked superbly in these situations)
16813
1 Front left & right 860mm. Rear left & right 875mm (measured level ground to wheel arch)
2 Rear diff 235mm.
3 Front cross member 240mm.
The increase over standard is therefore a gain of 55mm which I am more than happy with.
The superb ride the vehicle had before the spring upgrade appears to have improved even further, the impression is an even smoother and more absorbing ride over bumps and corrugations.
The vehicles steering is light, very direct and positive. It still tracks straight and the steering wheel has remained centred which is surprising as no wheel re-alignment has been done as yet.
Sudden quick left right steering wheel applications, such as avoiding a pot hole at highway speed may be producing a little more body roll than before. New tyres are due and with a re-alignment it will be interesting to see if anything changes.
Off road the vehicle is a big improvement. The extra 55mm clearance gives you more confidence on deep rutted and rocky tracks and the ramp over angle improvement means I am clearing crests on my property tracks that were catching the under side of the vehicle before.
