Anyone know of any off-the-shelf spare wheel carriers for Defender utes?
Or any canopies?

Sorry i can't help you with a off the shelf wheel carrier for a ute. What my 200tdi ute has is one under the tray which makes the tray really high, and there is room for one on the bonet which you may be able to get a bonet with a wheel mount on?
Might not be lots of help but thats my two bobs worth.
Cheers
Ben

I'm thinking of owners of the new 110 Crew Cab needing to shift the spare from its silly location within the tray.

You could either make something for the bonnet or buy one from Opposite Lock which is on their website.

Didn't see an OL solution for the utes, only for the wagon.

What type of tail gate have the new 110 Crew Cabs got ? Is it full width like a 130, or narrow like older 110's/Series ?

Partial width.
Wheel carriers that mount just on the rear chassis, such as Kaymar, should work fine.
