Does anyone have any ideas how a restored land rover can be insured for more than $6000?

I think before anybody will insure it for more than $6000 you will have to get it inspected by the company and have ambo,s ready when you get the quote:D

I think I had my SIII insured for $6K with RACV, maybe it was $5K on 3rd Party Fire & Theft. The policy was about $150 p/a.
It got stolen, and recovered within 24 hours. They paid out the policy and I got to keep it for about $1,500 and repair it for about $800.
After that the premium jumped by $100, as that one theft significantly skewed the statistical risk of a SIII insurance claim. I called to ask why I was being penalised for being a victim, and after some negotitiation I got full comp cover with rating 1 protection for about $260 p/a
I've noticed now (last few months) with the Defenders insurance, they're getting very tight and changing the wording of policies to significanty reduced the amount insured, without dropping the premium. For example, my Defender was insured for $18K plus accessories; now all they'll do is $15,800 including accessories. Same premium, half the payout :(
