I have problem and Im not sure if this is the place to discuss it.
A little while back I sold my old Disco ARB bar to a guy who had a mate who went on this site -I packed and paid it's way over .and now he wont answer his Mob and I asume he doesn't to want pay-I have his name no and Business name -can his mate please contact me on his behalf -he might be in hospital for all i know!As his mate I will not hold you responsible forhis actions .
What should I Do?
1 Name and Shame.
2 were in busines so i use debt recovery.

I use a certain motor cycle club for bad debt recovery. They charge 25% so their service is really only for largsh amounts. 100% success rate in the 8-9 years I have engaged their occasional services.

Thanks for the advice -Remind me to not get on the wrong side of you!
I'll give it a few days .We do a lot of things in trust in my line of work and we dont get caught often-I havent met any Landrover people in 20 years who are dishonest . I will ring him again tomorrow.
Thanks

Not good.
Naming may go down badly with the mods.
I would sed letter of demand and the istigate debt recovery.
And yes hold the mutual party in the same light as the non payer.
Have a similar issue from one of the members on here and will never trust that party or their friends again. You know who you are may you crash your Landy.

What a pain. You should be able to trust that people will honour their debts.
Hope there is a good explanation (gone to Bali for a fortnight...?) and you get your $$.

While it would be good to be able to name and shame these people, it may be wise to think of the legal ramifications for the site first.

There have a been several non-payers on this site and they are still here - I know of a few members that have been burned by others.
Regrettably, we have to avoid naming and shaming to protect the site owner from legal action.
The site can do little to protect you and I doubt that we can even bar the members unless they earn enough points in infractions.

Best thing you can do is find out when his birthday is and get Ron to buy him a parachute.

The site can do little to protect you and I doubt that we can even bar the members unless they earn enough points in infractions. Now I don't know if this would be wrong or right....but if someone purchased something via the forum from another member.....couldn't/ shouldn't there be a duty of care component. Moreso in the fact that if someone bought something and didn't pay.....that other members were made aware of the fact.
What if another person sold something to same person...unaware's and it resulted in the same situation. I would think at the very least they should be banned as "stealing" or non payment of goods would have to trangress any other form of reason for banning.
Absolutely name and shame.....person makes a choice to come here.....and if they do not abide by the general courtesy of making payment on goods purchased....they don't deserve to be here. Also perhaps a learning lesson.........get the $$$$ upfront or at least a decent deposit....so both parties are covered,
Regards

V8 ian has a good idea with the chain PM to the people you know are ok. it would be like calling your mate and saying that this guy is dodgy, can't get in trouble for that surely.
other than that track the guy down and brake his legs, can't drive your rover now can ya.

What does this community do with its rat bags?
This place is not ebay so anyone who trades here takes a risk (Buyer and Seller beware).
The "name and shame" approach is one avenue...but be careful. I had a similar experience but it turned out that the buyer was out of town for some time so couldn't use this place to communicate.

without making any noises or inferences to his honesty, simply ask him via this forum (so we can all see who it is) when he may be able to pay for the goods you sent him. apologise for using the forum because you couldnt contact him any other way.

It's a bit of a worry that people may not trust the sites marketplace anymore due to this.
I have only used it once to buy an Edelbrock manifold off a fellow member and was impressed with how smooth the transaction went.
There has been almost $650000 worth of stuff gone through the marketplace and this is the first complaint that I have seen.
Maybe some members could post up some positive experiences that they've had.

Hi all
Thanks for your support ,I have had a little think and a little advice
and i wasnt too keen on naming and shaming as this may to do more harm than good at this stage.
It was suggested i should post a notice naming the article and the fact that the payment may have been overlooked.

Overall I have had positive experiences with the markets and believe they are a good thing. My issue was not with they payent but the non legal use of the item sold and the subsequent cost in time, money and police records to me from that. It was also ot sold via the markets just purchased through a certain member of the forum who I would now not trust. I will leave my issue at that.
The bulk of this forum is beyond friendly and helpfull. You will always have those who have no respect for their fellow man.

My experiences have all been good. Most members are honourable and will complete a transaction.
I would try all avenues contacting him again including pms and maybe a very generalised post (Inc or one of the supermods may be able to let you know if this is viable), but do not be agressive or state things like non payment etc.
Cheers

Have you tried his mobile & blocked your caller ID? He may be just not answering your calls & will pick up on a number that he doesn't associate with you. Might be worth a try, or calling at a different time of day.

I couldn't agree more, this forum is too good a place to to allow this type of behavior. We all need to Know.
I recently purchased a zf from the forum and the whole exercise has been a breeze:):).

I guess just because someone is on a Land Rover forum doesn't make them honest, or easy to deal with.
Hope you get it sorted.

Couldn't such parties have there access restricted as to not have access to market areas until disputes are rectified.
