The 09 D3 TDV6 SE that is due to arrive in September has had a bit of an unexpected upgrade.
The dealer phoned yesterday to advise that LR, in their wisdom, were fitting it with the 19" wheels from the HSE instead of the standard 18's all free of charge.
Why? I'm not sure. Maybe they ran out of 18's.
I really like the look of the 19" wheels with 10 spokes, but, I think I will now have far less choice for after market tyres once the OE ones are trashed. There may be more around by then, we will see?
Also I would think that 19" tyres are going to be a fair bit more expensive to replace than 18's. Since I aways replace all 5 or 6 (6 on my ute) at once I think I will be looking at a few $100 extra at least.
So I am very happy that it will have bling looking wheels. I'm not so impressed by the rest of the arrangement.
At least they are not 20's I guess.

I would keep the 19's & then find a 2nd set off off road rims to damage/play with. Keep the 19's for cruising & the nights to the "Opera";)

The 2 sets of wheels sounds like a good idea.
But I haven't found the Opera House in Doomadgee yet.
Can anybody tell me how the 19" tyres ride? Rough or not?

I'm sure that if you really wanted 18s, they could be swapped over at the finishing centre in Australia.
Most City dealers would love to have fancy 19s instead of 18s so I would be very surprised if a deal couldn't be struck somewhere along the line.
BTW, what is in Doomadgee?
Looking at Google Maps, there's nothing at all there !!

Depends on what you are primarily going to use the D3 for. I had the HSE with 19's...but I bought mine to take off road as much as possible....so couldnt wait to get my hands on a set of 18's so I could put some Grabbers on them. At the time MTRs for the 19's were well over $500 a tyre ...whereas the grabbers were around $300 odd dollars....plus better suited than the HPs I had on.
I wish I had the selection of 18's for my D3 that there is now. As for ride...couldnt really tell the difference between the 19's with HPs and the 18's with Grabbers.

Options
1. Keep the 19s with road tyres and buy some steel 17s with muds/ATs for offroad.
2. Find someone with an S more into bling than practical who will swap your 19s for their 17s. If you're going to swap may as well go for 17s rather than 18s.
Not options
1. Serious offroading with 19s shod with road tyres.
You will find your tyre choices limited for 19s. There are actually more choices for 20s, 19s is something of an orphan size. But 20" is a nightmare size offroad, really quite difficult to air down and the rims get scratched very easily. You are correct re tyre cost too.
Overall I would not look on this as an improvement, given your previous posts. If all you were going to do is cruise around town yes, but you have plans beyond that.
BTW I now have 5 x 255/55/19 MTRs on 19" rims available again, the buyer that was going to take them has pulled out for personal reasons.
