My son Abraham and a couple of friends from church wanted to go for a drive in their Suzuki Jimny, into the bush for 'some real four wheel driving'. So we did. Just some mildly challenging tracks in the Wombat State Forest near Blackwood. For those who know the area we turned off the Ballan - Daylesford Rd at Spargo Creek, onto the the Spargo-Blakeville Rd, Thru Blakeville, into Binks Rd, then Rhonda Track, Paradise Road, Swirley Track, Blackwood Ridge Road, New Sultan Road and Easter Monday Track into Blackwood.

Towards the end of the drive on the Easter Monday Track the road was blocked by a fallen tree ... but the impact of the fall had broken most of the larger branches into (barely) manageable bits and Abraham is a big strong young fella, and under the expert (!) supervision of his Dad, and with his younger brother Luke to give him a hand - I did help a bit here and there too! - we managed to get most of the branches off the road. But there were two that were too long to move - so we rode over them. For the Rangie, particularly with the air suspension, it was easy ...

But for the Zook the larger of the branches was a bit of a challenge. Mia is looking a bit worried here ...

She got over, but the radius arm mounting landed on the branch.

But there was no damage done and she kept on going. The rear wheels went up and over with no real problems except for a bit of wheelspin.
They were held up a bit on part of the Easter Monday track. I said to Abraham, who was in the Suzuki as a passenger, what was the hold up. He said that they had had to attempt the long slippery hill twice. I hadn't noticed - the Rangie had gone straight up!
The little Jimny acquitted itself well. This was a first for Mia and the Jimny and they got thru everything. Its nowhere near a Rangie, but Zooks are not a hundred grand's worth either.
We had a great day. Finished off with a short picnic at Blackwood - short because it was cold and windy! - and then had a pleasant run home to sunny Geelong!
