Bash Plate discussion

so... I do like the bash plate over at RR-evolution.com (http://www.rr-evolution.com/shop/article_Ski%2520Sabot%2520de%2520protection%2520-%2520Barres%2520de%2520Direction%2520-%2520Range%2520Rover%2520P38/Ski-Sabot-de-protection---Barres-de-Direction---Range-Rover-P38.html'shop_param=cid%3D10%26aid%3DSki%2520Sabot %2520de%2520protection%2520-%2520Barres%2520de%2520Direction%2520-%2520Range%2520Rover%2520P38%26) but it looks like it is suited to P38A's that still have the skirt and standard bumper fitted.

I am worried about mud getting scooped up in to the bottom of the radiator shroud and would be looking for a plate that extends to the bottom of the bull bar.

I have one in the shed that is made up of steel checkerplate. It came with my Hard Range bullbar. Its a bit rough and ready so I decided not to use it and came up with another solution that is working well. You can have it if you want want it.

I used a series of aluminium strips 100mm x 2.5 mm, mounted longitudinally. Each was techscrewed to bottom of the bullbar and the bottom of the radiator support. Its probably not enough if you want to go bouncing off rocks, but otherwise it is quite strong and looks good. It prevents the mud getting scooped into the radiator core and it will deflect most sticks, etc.

Sorry about the pic quality, but I think it illustrates it clearly enough. There are two tech screws at each end of each plate and they are quite sturdy enough for the job.

Not this weekend though -I'm flying up on Saturday morning to collect the Rangie from Sam at Hurstville... assuming it is ok to go... couldn't get hold of him today to see if there are any problems with the EAT/TC transplant.
Assuming it is good to collect on Saturday, I'm driving straight back to Canberra to collect my better 'alf and head out to the Loaded Dog Hotel in Tarago for an evening of "How to host a murder"... should be fun!

That Southdown stuff is very nice, and pricey too. They also have a chunky axle guard that compliments that steering guard.

We could do with some decent armour for the fuel tank too. A little too low and exposed for my liking. I wouldn't be surprised if Southdown have something for that too.

lol they do! they have a fuel tank guard! and yes i agree but i have my car running duel fuel and the gas tank is nice and safe in the boot! i thought i had pierced the fuel tank the other day when i went 4bing because i had quarter of a tank in there and it suddenly went empty....still dont know how or why. but i put some fuel in and it seems to be normal.

one of those things i guess.

p.s if only we were millionaires and could afford armour!
