Hi Guys
l will be donning a new set of Maxxis Bighorn 762's in 245/75 r16 next week and @ $245 each there great value....as Ive been searching the forum for info on these for a few weeks, Ive found the information is all over the place ...so taking from a thread idea from Expedition portal just thought id post a thread just for info on the maxxis, fours and against's (based on experience of use of course), and general pic's and info .......
please give opinions on other maxxis tyres as well....
myself, l will start a post with a regular update on how they are going and their rate of wear in real time ...as soon as there on....so give us your thoughts and or experience and views .....
cheers

So far they are whereing well
Alot noisier than the coopers st but I'm not convinced it's not my wheel bearings as it a whiring noise that goes up and done roughy each revoluiton of the wheel rather than the constant noise i expected
Very happy with them both off road and on road so far

Hag a set of Maxxis muddies on my cruiser and loved them!
Didn't find them too noisy and didn't stake in the time I had em.

Where I work we sell a whole range of Maxxis tyres for passenger cars including the High performance end of the market and have nothing but praise including no complaints from customers who would whinge about anything! I also know a bloke who sells into the 4WD markets, including extreme, rockcrawlers and has the same feedback.

But is there anything in The Good Oil (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/good-oil/) about them? That is the important question

Yeah i can see this being a good oil thread, its a question thats asked fairly often.
Yeah i run a set of 245/75/r16 of my disco on the standard steel rims had them for a few months now. Found them to be a great set of Mud tyres at a good price ($240 each). They do have some road noise above 80km/h on smooth roads. However that said awesome grip offroad.

We got'em on the Rangie, 31x15.10.5 and so far have been excellent. Paid $225ea. Also quite good on the black stuff but start to get a bit noisy over 80 - but then everything does. ;)

Still not convinced that you would be able to hear them over my gearbox :p nothing wines more than a soulihul build 'box :D
When I can find some well priced steel 15" rims to suit my Series IIA I will be getting a set of Bighorns. My mate runs them on his old Datto and I rekon they are tops

I have owned Bighorns for 6 months. I have only covered 5,000Km yet i live in the bush on a property so every trip i do starts and finishes with 3Km of Dirt tracks.
These tyres hold onto loose surfaces very well and handle both wet/dry sealed roads with plenty of warning. These tyres cos me $220 a corner in 245/75R16 and have always got me out of trouble in clay mud and rock. They are great self cleaners and as for road noise i find them better then my BFG's but if you are complaining about road noise time to get a new car!
All of the above has been compared to BFG's which i have on my other 4x4 and when the BFG's wear out i will be replacing them with the Bighorns! not the other way around. :)
