This is a pic of the pin that broke in my D2's diff.My mechanic said i was lucky it didnt come all the way out and go through the mincer as it would have destroyed the whole thing.Instead of rebuilding it ive put in a locker, just need to hook up the wiring.

That looks familiar:( The fuse has blown by the looks of it:D
Thats the good thing about lockers, they are heaps stronger even unlocked.

Oh that looks very familiar!!!!! I had the same thing happen to me at easter time. I got a reco diff centre for a good price, would have preferred to get rid of the rear diff also and have lockers front and rear......
BUT...... SWMBO had other plans for that money hahaha.

Thats not bad. Its not uncommon for bits to come through the back of the housing also when they break. D2's don't usually break that bit as it was redesigned from what the other rovers were running, usually the planetary gear (the gear on that shaft) mashes out first or the axle snaps. At least it would have been a cheaper fix, but you'll love the locker.

Yes i was shown a diff center out of a series one while they were both on the bench and the series two is a way bigger shaft.I cant wait to try the locker,if only i didnt have to help dad fit a lift kit to his nissan tomorrow.

I really wouldn't put money on that bit breaking in the front. Anything could break in the front of a D2, the axles, diffs, CV's are all much the same for strength.
