tyres and transmission windup

I am about to replace my tyres on my 300tdi. They will be the same size as now fitted (235.85.R16) This is the recommended size. My question is : If I were to replace the rear tyres and two days later replace the front ones would driving about 40 km in between cause any sort of problem with the transmission? The only difference in rolling circumference would be the new tread depth. By doing it this way I can spread the cost over two visa card periods. Jim

I would say you would be fine....

if your that worried alter the pressures in them so you have the same running diameter

one of the users handbooks makes a statement about a 10% difference in tyre size being the maximum limit.

so high air, stretches the tread length? how much 1% at say 45psi? 1.5 % at 60 psi ?
